About the Role

The Associate Director, People Services is a critical leadership position within RMIT's People function, responsible for ensuring service excellence and continuous improvement across the University’s front-line people services. Reporting to the Executive Director, People Advisory & Assurance, this role leads a team dedicated to delivering high-quality people services, including payroll administration, tier 2 People advice and employee services.

The role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR and payroll operations leader to shape the future of People Services at RMIT. The successful candidate will be instrumental in transforming and continually improving the People Services function to enhance customer service, increase efficiency, and boost productivity across the University.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • Extensive experience in managing a broad range of People Services functions within large, complex organizations, with a particular emphasis on payroll operations.
     

  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, systems, and practices, coupled with generalist HR management experience.
     

  • Proven ability to manage and drive change in a complex and challenging industrial work environment.
     

  • Demonstrated success in leading a team of HR professionals to deliver high-quality service with a focus on exceptional customer service.
     

  • Experience in Workday or similar cloud-based HR systems is highly desirable.
     

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization.

Qualifications:  Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Finance, or a related field, supported by relevant senior leadership experience.
