What We Offer  

  • Compensation – We support transparency, equity, and fairness in our compensation programs. We offer a competitive hourly rate based on education level and qualifications, as follows:

    • Undergraduate students: $25.00/hour

    • Graduate students: $29.00/hour

    • Ph.D./JD students: $37.00/hour

  • Hybrid work option – Staff will be assigned to the Washington, DC (Headquarters); Ashburn, VA; Irvine, CA; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Denver, CO; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Tampa, FL; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; New York, NY; Charlotte, NC; Philadelphia, PA; Dallas, TX; or Houston, TX office or location. Staff can choose to live and work from anywhere within the United States but will be required to commute to their assigned office or location for occasional intentional gatherings or meetings at the frequency required by their supervisor. Travel to an assigned office or location for commuting purposes will not be considered reimbursable business travel, unless otherwise required by state law. Business travel is reimbursable in an amount not exceeding the cost to travel from the assigned office or location, unless otherwise required by state law. 

Role Summary

The PCAOB Procurement Spring Intern position is in the Office of Finance, and reports to the Procurement Manager. The primary responsibilities include supporting the sourcing materials and services with a focus on quality and cost effectiveness for the PCAOB. This position requires a proactive individual who thrives in a multi-faceted professional environment and works professionally with others.

The Intern will have the opportunity to work as a part of the Procurement Department to utilize and develop procurement and contracting skills. The Intern will gain experience working within the PCAOB Procurement Policies and Procedures and be involved in critical team activities that may include participating in vendor meetings and negotiations, internal requirement gatherings and contract reviews. The Intern will interface with members of Finance as well as the various Division/Office staff across the PCAOB. Our internship program provides hands-on work experience, allowing you to grow your skills and gain experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with members of Procurement and PCAOB Division/Office members to source materials and services in accordance with PCAOB policies.

  • Perform and document negotiations with vendors, which may include pricing and terms and conditions.

  • Provide support in the PCAOB Procure-to-Pay system to PCAOB requisitioners in the processing and approving of contracts and requisitions.

  • Research market conditions and conduct due diligence on vendors to support internal customer requirements and needs for future procurements.

  • Communicate with internal customers and external vendors on the status of procurements and requisitions to provide timely feedback.

  • Participate in special projects or other team assignments as needed.

Qualifications

Education/Technical Expertise/Skills and Abilities

  • Current academic enrollment at the undergraduate (junior or above) or graduate level, pursuing a degree in supply chain management/procurement management/business administration/finance.

  • Basic knowledge of procurement management and contracting.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Ability and willingness to follow directions and learn quickly while maintaining a professional positive attitude.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others or independently to accomplish team goals, success oriented.

  • Ability to effectively execute detail-oriented work with a high level of accuracy and at times to multi-task.

  • Drive to meet quality and timeline requirements in a professional, team-oriented and supportive atmosphere to meet individual and team deadlines and goals.

  • Maintains standards of confidentiality with respect to all matters and documents.
