Summary: Under the direction of Procurement management exercises responsibility for execution of the procurement departments strategic and tactical plans. This position exercises independent judgment routinely and operates within established guidelines.
Essential Functions: Includes the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by local management and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at each specific Astemo site and/or the strengths of the employee and the needs of the company):
Complies with instructions regarding the procurement system and procedures Performs sourcing activities with a basic objective of selecting the best possible suppliers (quality, price and delivery) for new programs, equipment and components. Obtains multiple quotations and recommends supplier selection based on cost / benefit analysis of options. Negotiates and monitors standard and nonstandard purchase agreements. Actively pursues cost reduction initiatives and develops cost reduction strategies Long term planning and development of suppliers and commodity base Interfaces with suppliers and other departments on quality, delivery, payments, asset control, etc. and efficiently maintains all related records. Expedites orders as needed and reviews/monitors the Backorder report. Responsible for submitting monthly MRO report that tracks number of PO’s issued and dollar amounts. May be assigned to coordinate special projects within the Procurement function. Managers service contracts and daily relationships with outside contractors as assigned. Clerical duties include generating and emailing MRO PO’s for regular and rush orders, filing, generating/approving Central Stores set ups, and general department support Always represents the company and its policies in a professional /ethical manner and promotes good relationships with suppliers. Adheres to all HR, safety and ISO policies, guidelines, regulations and work instructions. Adheres to all government and company laws/rules regarding antitrust issues
Qualifications
Knowledge, skills & abilities: Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Possess ability to perform duties utilizing current company software applications. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills required. This position performs job duties in an ethical and professional manner. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required and a bachelor’s degree may be preferred.
Experience: 2 years or more experience as a Buyer is preferred.

Working Conditions
Physical Demands: Generally physical demands are those of a typical office environment. However, some lifting may be required in support of various activities (i.e. supporting physical inventories, etc.). Requirement to spend several hours at a time on the plant floor is sometimes necessary (i.e. visiting supplier’s facilities for audit purposes; spending time on the Hitachi plant floor, etc.). Ability to work 40-60 hours per week.
Travel: Travel is necessary for this position including some overseas travel.
Work Environment: Majority of time is spent in a typical office environment. However, there will be times when spending several hours at a time in a factory floor environment is necessary.
