Description
In this role, the Simulator Technician performs complex but standard technical tasks related to preventive and corrective maintenance of simulators and associated systems. The role includes work performed in office, on site, and in the field, and may involve limited design-related activities. The incumbent supports simulator availability, performance, and customer satisfaction while adhering to CAE quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
Perform preventive maintenance tasks on simulators and associated simulator systems
Diagnose and correct routine problems on simulators and associated systems
Assist in diagnosing and correcting more complex issues on simulators and associated systems
Utilize the maintenance management system to record, track, and document maintenance activities
Perform pre-flight and post-flight checks on all simulators
Perform visual alignments and in-depth visual adjustments on assigned simulator systems
Run and evaluate Qualification Test Guide (QTG) results
Assist with refurbishment projects and hardware modifications
Train technicians in basic technical skills
Complete all designated training activities and actively pursue continued professional development
Learn, follow, and comply with the CAE Quality Management System
Provide customer service support and address customer needs in a timely and professional manner
Perform logistics duties, including parts receipt, repair coordination, testing, and validation
Perform housekeeping functions to maintain simulators in required condition
Perform administrative tasks as required
Perform additional tasks in support of the technical services group, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Two-year technical degree or equivalent related training
Minimum of three (3) years of direct simulator experience
Ability to troubleshoot to system level on multiple types of simulators
Proficiency in the use of test and diagnostic equipment
Ability to use and interpret available diagnostic tools on multiple types of simulators
Ability to perform preventive maintenance, pre-flight, and post-flight checks on simulators within the fleet
Ability to perform in-depth visual adjustments and setups on at least one (1) type of visual system.
Ability to assist with refurbishment projects and other hardware modifications
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and applications
Basic knowledge of IP networking, including addressing, VLANs, TCP/IP, and DHCP management
Fluency in English
