Job Purpose
- The Manager Business Continuity leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of an enterprise-wide business continuity program to ensure the organization can sustain critical operations during disruptions and recover efficiently. This role ensures that Methodist Health System can effectively respond to disruptions, minimizing loss and maintaining critical operations. They will partner closely with operational leaders and IT Disaster Recovery teams to align recovery strategies across the system.
- Responsibilities include risk assessments, business impact analyses (BIA), and mitigation strategies, with a focus on operational continuity while coordinating with IT disaster recovery (DR) teams. The program manager ensures plans remain current, regulatory-compliant, and adaptable to evolving risks.
- Supports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Continuity, Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Safety, or general Business.
- Master’s degree in a field listed above preferred.
Licenses and/or Certifications:
Work Experience:
- 3-5 years of business continuity, emergency management or continuity of operations, preferably within a healthcare or multi-facility setting.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-site or regional preparedness programs.
- Certification: Business Continuity Professional Programs (CBCP, CBCI, MBCP), Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or equivalent (preferred).
- Valid Texas driver’s license and reliable transportation for inter-campus travel.
Related Work Experience and Other Skills:
- Expert-level understanding of business continuity and emergency management frameworks, including Business Impact Analysis (BIA), response plan development, and recovery prioritization.
- Expertise in risk management frameworks, with demonstrated ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable continuity plans.
- Strong understanding of the interface between business continuity and disaster recovery processes, ensuring effective collaboration without direct oversight of DR operations.
- Strong command of regulatory requirements affecting business continuity and emergency response (TJC, CMS, ACS, OSHA).
- Proven ability to lead multi-site operations and influence system-level initiatives.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; skilled in executive presentations and technical documentation.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and program management capabilities.
- Strong teaching skills: ability to command classroom settings and other training forums.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on assessing and addressing the business impact of potential disruptions.
- Advanced proficiency in business continuity software, tools, and technologies, with expertise in business impact analysis and risk assessment methodologies.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Frequent travel among Methodist campuses across the DFW region.
- Regular standing, walking, sitting, computer use, and lifting up to 25 lbs.

Job Roles:
- Leads the evaluation, design, and implementation of comprehensive business continuity plans across all critical areas of the organization,
- Provides strategic recommendations for improvements and ensures alignment with industry’s best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Supports the formal governance and logistics of the system’s BC steering committee.
- Collaborates with IT disaster recovery (DR) to ensure alignment between business continuity and disaster recovery strategies, while focusing primarily on maintaining operational continuity across business functions.
- Develops and oversees the execution of enterprise-wide business continuity exercises and testing programs.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, business units, and hospital departments to drive engagement and accountability and to provide leadership to the cycle and range of business continuity activities.
- Conducts in-depth business impact analyses, identifying critical business processes and establishing recovery time objectives, resource requirements, and contingency plans for the successful resumption of operations post-disruption.
- Ensure continuous monitoring and revision of business continuity plans to address changes in technology, infrastructure, and organizational processes.
- Implements feedback loops and after-action reviews to ensure ongoing program refinement.
- Establishes and maintains effective communication and reporting channels across the organization, ensuring timely dissemination of critical business continuity information and updates.
- Serves as subject-matter expert on business continuity, providing high-level consultation to organizational leadership, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and risk management frameworks.
- Manages routine updates to the detailed information supporting the business continuity procedures (contact lists, personnel assignments, hardware and software specifications, network diagrams, vital records inventory lists, offsite backup schedules, etc.)
- Coordinates electronic access to—and hardcopy distribution of—business continuity plans and procedures.
- Protects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the business continuity plans and procedures.
- Ensure all personnel with specific business continuity responsibilities are adequately trained to fulfill those responsibilities; ensures all employees are familiar with the relevant provisions of the business continuity plans.
- Collaborates with Supply Chain to embed continuity requirements into vendor contracts and annual testing.
- Provides support for any emergency which may require activation of all or part of the business continuity plans.
