Position Summary

The WashU Medicine BioStore will provide centralized, automated, and secure frozen biosample storage and management for clinical and basic research investigators at WashU Medicine. Designed for efficient, high-density storage, the system ensures biosamples remain protected, accessible, and integrated for genomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and other research workflows.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Focuses and directs Clinical Research Laboratory in conjunction with guidance from the department director and chairman.

  • Oversees compliance of the WashU code of Conduct, privacy, confidentiality and department policies.

  • Works closely with administration to assure high quality services.

  • Coordinates and integrates services within the department and with other departments.

  • Possesses up-to-date knowledge in the profession and understand the issues relevant to the institution.

  • Coordinates strategies and efforts within areas of responsibility.

  • Understands the impact of decisions in other areas.

  • Demonstrates leadership organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Identifies appropriate resources and business processes, sets priorities, delegates authority and meets deadlines.

  • Promotes continuous improvement.

  • Takes responsibility to improve quality of services, identifies problems, intervenes or notifies appropriate personnel as needed.

  • Determines and obtains space, equipment and material necessary for successful project objectives.

  • Directs development and education of CRL personnel.

  • Manages budget preparation and fiscal management.

  • Assures that expenditures of funds is appropriate and allocate resources within budget limitations.

  • Plans, develops, and implements strategies for generating resources and/or revenue for department.

  • Manages and reports financial status of division and track financial status of research activities.

  • Directs recruitment, selection and evaluation of personnel who provide research services.

  • Completes new appointments, promotions, transfers and separations.

  • Handles recruiting, hiring, and training qualified applicants.

More About This Job

Primary job duties of this position will include coordination, planning, logistics, implementation and operation of the large-scale, high-density, automated BioBank at WashU Medicine. This individual will help plan biobanking strategy which includes managing the scale and complexity of biological sample types.

Salary Range

$55,200.00 - $100,000.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
