Job Summary
As a Product Management COE Lead Principal, your role is two-fold: you will combine your deep expertise in Product Management with people leadership. Through your passion for leadership you connect, engage and develop your chapter members, as well as prioritise their flow to work, so they deliver value aligned to Telstra’s strategic roadmap.What You’ll Do:
Product & Technology - Strategic Partnerships & Devices COE develops and manages Telstra's strategic partnerships and device portfolio.
Purpose of the Role:
This position is a key senior leadership role in the broader Strategic Partnerships, Innovation and Devices Group that is central to the Product & Technology business unit. You will be a critical member of the SPI&D leadership team responsible for the success of the Devices COE and offer strategic, commercial and partnership support to the SPI&D Executive Group Owner, playing a key role in people development, organisational leadership and employee engagement.
In this senior role you will lead a multi-functional team to develop and deliver Telstra’s Device & Accessory strategy, ensuring we deliver to our customers a world leading, secure and profitable Connected Devices & Accessories portfolio. You will define and deliver Telstra’s hardware roadmap for mobiles, tablets, MBB hotspots, accessories and smart technology, enterprise 5G devices and more. You will be responsible for supporting product teams by delivering hardware solutions for our fixed, IoT and enterprise customer portfolios, and you will be accountable for delivery of hardware sales and financial growth targets.
You will lead strategic and specialist device relationships and drive best in class vendor management and commercial outcomes from your COE (Centre of Expertise). You will develop, own and govern strategic device frameworks and ongoing continuous process improvement and provide specialist subject matter expertise on device technology and thought leadership across the device domains.
In this role you will be accountable for the network certification of devices and end user experience for Telstra customers, and compliance with regulatory standards associated with device retailing. You will also be accountable for delivering on Telstra’s sustainability strategy in relation to devices including our initiatives related to recycling, circular economy and sustainable packaging.
This is how you bring the purpose of your role to life:
• As custodian of Telstra’s Device and Accessory strategy, lead the overall delivery of all device & accessory related objectives in the Product & Technology domain and service the device needs for Telstra’s broader device and services business objectives and our customer needs
• Collaborate with the key internal stakeholders ensuring alignment to the strategic device plan and inspire your CoE and the broader organisation with thought leadership and vision for the portfolios
• Define and manage the roadmap and lifecycle of the portfolios, including technology alignment, cost, commercial escalations, service performance, supplier partnerships, competitive and regulatory matters
• Deliver on sales and financial targets for the device and accessory business, setting and executing on strategies together with the customer segment, propositions and retail teams to deliver growth and support core service business objectives.
• Manage resourcing and work allocation, including recruitment and/or selection, to maintain a talent pipeline and ensure capability requirements are met with the best talent, and any resourcing issues are mitigated.
• Drive a cross BU end-to-end device process re-design to better optimise the device go to market timelines, commercial synergies and operational efficiencies, making recommendations to executive and CEOLT on improved device operating models and organisational design
• Be the key senior relationship manager for device manufacturer and related partners, building and developing strong relationships with senior executives with OEMS facilitating and enhancing strategic partnership opportunities for Telstra.
• Lead as the senior point of contact for end to end issue resolution for all devices related matters and escalations
• Create and maintain a compliant and sustainable device ranging portfolio through managing effective governance and controls processes.
• Provide clarity on performance and behavioural goals and expectations to your CoE members, to ensure that their contributions are aligned to CoE priorities

Essential skills and experience:
Experience leading high performing teams
Experience working in both large corporates and or/with device OEMs
Experienced in senior strategy development and/or commercial management roles.
Experience establishing and growing relationships with senior executives (C-level) to enable strategic partnership discussions and initiatives
Experience influencing senior stakeholders – internal and external
Proven strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen, highly proficient executive communication skills.
