SMX is seeking a Watchstander in support of Commander Navy Installations Command (CNIC) Enterprises Services Center in Norfolk, VA. The qualified candidate will be responsible for interfacing directly with the Government customer at their onsite facility while providing critical infrastructure support. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with reliable, detail-oriented, and self-directed work to complete tasking within required schedules.

This position supports a 24/7 operational project which requires rotational shift work that will include weekends and holidays. Shifts may rotate approximately every 3 months. The candidate must have reliable transportation even in inclement weather.

This position requires a DoD security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct logged random checks of SIPR spaces and log inventory inspections every 24 hours
  • Conduct physical inspection of SIPR Protected Distribution Systems (PDS) daily (includes weekends and holidays)
  • Conduct one physical inspection of the lab within boundaries of Service Delivery Point (SDP) per watch period to include, but not limited to, testing of emergency lighting, verifying fire extinguisher validation, and checking lab lighting, environmental HVAC operation, power distribution unit operation, structural hazards such as water leaks and building damage.
  • Record environmental and status readings
  • Report any issues to appropriate Point of Contact (POC) and submitting support tickets in ticketing systems as required
  • Monitor the Watch email inbox and notifying POC as required

Required Skills & Experience

  • Excellent skills to communicate effectively with others both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • A junior level candidate has:
    • One (1) to three (3) years of experience and a bachelor’s degree, OR
    • Associates degree plus up to four (4) years of additional relevant work experience, OR
    • No degree plus up to six (6) years of additional relevant work experience
  • A journeyman level candidate has:
    • three (3) or more years of experience and a bachelor’s degree, OR
    • Associates degree plus over four (4) years of additional work experience, OR
    • No degree plus over six (6) years of additional work experience

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Information Technology and Computer Networking knowledge
  • Helpdesk support background
  • Previous Watchstander experience
