The Manager, Connected Living Compliance, serves as a trusted partner to the Ethics & Compliance organization. This position will report to the AVP, Connected Living Compliance, and will manage and advise on new and emerging business issues, appropriate compliance practices, testing, monitoring, remediation, and oversight of the effectiveness of controls. The role also identifies and mitigates regulatory and client risk and works closely with Connected Living business and legal teams, supporting Assurant’s growing and diverse Connected Living products, including extended service contracts, financial services, home solutions businesses, and supporting mobile compliance initiatives. This is a remote opportunity. An ideal candidate would be in Atlanta or Miami, with other remote locations considered for exceptional candidates.
What will my duties and responsibilities be in this job?
Engage in activities to provide objective compliance and operational risk oversight of first-line compliance activities in alignment with the Connected Living Compliance Governance Framework and Enterprise priorities and objectives.
In consultation with Compliance leadership, provide solutions-oriented compliance guidance to protect Assurant while assisting business colleagues toward their objectives. Will work closely and collaboratively with the appropriate business level first line of defense roles and employees.
Utilize a risk-based approach to test, monitor, and assess risks and effectiveness of first-line processes and controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations,s leveraging monitoring tools, metrics, processes, resources, and tracking systems.
Manage compliance issue identification and remedial activities to ensure appropriate issue management, reduction of risk, timely closure of gaps, and remediation where required.
Perform compliance reviews, including analysis of data, reports, regulations, operating procedures, client, regulatory, and internal requirements, and collaborate internally to develop solutions to reduce risk to appropriate levels.
Identify and escalate arising issues and concerns, and drive actions to address root causes that lead to compliance risks.
Assess the effectiveness of controls, assist in mitigating regulatory and client risk for Connected Living Home Solutions and Financial Services operations.
Assist in the review of regulatory and consumer complaints for patterns, trends, and areas of improvement, and collaborate on corrective actions. Interacts with internal partners in response to compliance issues.
Ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines, standards, and client requirements and provides guidance on regulatory issues/changes.
Responsible for research and analysis to support compliance initiatives and process improvement activities, including root cause analysis, and recommending improvements. Evaluates, recommends, and initiates the investigation of compliance issues as appropriate.
Contributes to developing and implementing the annual compliance initiatives and work plan, ensuring that compliance issues and areas of risk are identified and addressed.
Works closely with other members of the Compliance team to respond to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
Provides support and assistance to management and owners of processes and controls for the effective implementation of corporate policies and in the design of internal control and compliance processes.
Participate in the development and delivery of compliance education and training.
Contribute to responding to regulatory inquiries, audits, and examinations.
Manage inventory of compliance issue tracking, processes, risks, controls, and associated metrics for risk appetite and limits.
Collaborate in the design and implementation of risk assessments.
Manage staff to support compliance program deliverables and serve as trusted advisors to foster a culture of compliance and facilitate change management for compliance activities.
Develop staff to ensure effective job performance, identify development needs, and create career progression.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with business partners and stakeholders to help foster compliance and drive improvements.
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 8 years of equivalent work experience.
A minimum of 4 years of progressive work experience in operational compliance or audit monitoring experience.
A minimum of 4 years of insurance, service contract, or financial services industry experience
Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience.
Demonstrated ability to achieve results through working cross-functionally, influencing others, making timely decisions while considering needed trade-offs, and negotiating conflicts, as needed.
Strong problem-solving ability and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and align activities and priorities to meet organizational goals.
Demonstrated analytical and research skills
Experience collaborating with and influencing colleagues across business functions.
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
Experience with extended service contracts, bank-issued credit card programs, and/or other financial service products.
Experience with testing and monitoring approaches, applications, and processes.
Experience in PowerBI or other analytic reporting software, including creation of dashboards and performance of in-depth analysis.
Demonstrated understanding of compliance risk assessments, systems, and controls preferred.
Project management experience.
Green Belt training or experience with structured process improvement skills
Strong critical thinking skills, superior attention to detail, and the ability to analyze, summarize, and effectively present data.
Exemplify strong knowledge of industry protocols and best practices.
Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
Ability to drive execution and meet stated deadlines.
Knowledge of Microsoft products and compliance risk management software
Demonstrated problem resolution skills.
Demonstrated analytical and research skills. Ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and staff.
How much should I expect to travel? 5%

This position requires incumbents to regularly sit at a desk and operate standard office equipment such as a computer and phone. Pay Range:
$103,800.00 - $173,300.00Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
