About the role

As a key part of the Marketing team, the Director, Partner Management will drive the success of our partner relationships alongside our sales team, and ultimately support revenue growth of the Betterment B2B businesses. You will build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including RIAs, Benefit Brokers, Payroll Providers, and more. You will proactively work with them to understand their needs, identify advocacy opportunities, launch new partner engagements, and define and execute go-to-market plans to accelerate partner referrals to Betterment. 

You will work collaboratively with the internal teams including growth marketing, creative services, insights, analytics, revenue operations and external vendors, and agencies as needed. You will oversee a partner marketer (with possible future growth) to help set strategy and execute breakthrough, effective campaigns.

This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range we would offer for this position.  Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees. 

  • New York City: $170,000 - $190,000

A day in the life

  • Cultivate trusted, executive-level partner relationships to work towards mutual business objectives for both Betterment and our partners. Engage regularly with partners to evaluate the success of our relationships and make recommendations to optimize co-marketing initiatives to drive growth
  • Co-create Partner Success plans that identify partnership goals, milestones, go-to-market strategies, and regular review cycles to evaluate progress and make optimizations
  • Collaborate with Business Development to transition new partners to Betterment. Manage efficient partner onboarding process, ensuring partners have a deep understanding of the Betterment 401(k) and wealth management solutions, as well as access to essential resources and support
  • Define and lead premium, customized go-to-market strategies for key partners, including marketing campaigns, social media, thought leadership content, webinars, events, sales collateral, and more
  • Collaborate across internal Betterment teams, including marketing, sales, and revenue operations, to effectively brief and execute on go-to-market plans, including partner agreements, creative assets, promotions, and sales training
  • Proactively address and resolve partner-related operational challenges
  • Collaborate with revenue operations to effectively track and analyze partner performance metrics, and identify areas for improvement
  • Advocate for the needs of the partners, regularly sharing feedback with internal teams such as product development, marketing, revenue operations, and sales to ensure continuous improvement of the Betterment partner ecosystem
  • Deeply embed yourself with the business leadership to understand the ins and outs of the 401(k) space and the Betterment at Work solution

What we’re looking for

  • 10 years of proven experience in partner account management, partner marketing, partner success, or a related role, preferably within financial services
  • Inspiring and effective manager, someone who can both execute and delegate, provide direction and prioritize team assignments
  • Solid knowledge of B2B growth strategies, including business development, content marketing, lead generation, sales development, and partner marketing
  • Familiarity with B2B sales and partner relationship management tools and software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries that require adherence to complex legal and regulatory requirements
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to partner meetings and events

In the interview process, we’ll look to learn more about your skills, experiences, capabilities, and motivators. Many of our questions will be aimed at understanding how you might operate here at Betterment. Depending on the role, we may ask you to complete a case study exercise or technical assessments, as we want to collect a robust set of data points to better inform our decisions.

On average, it takes us around 3-5 weeks to make a hiring decision, depending on your availability and sense of urgency. As a best practice, we aim to interview at least 2-3 final round candidates before making a hiring decision.
