What You Will Do:

  • Support Federal Defense & Security clients, particularly the Department of State.

  • Communicate with and conduct assessment(s) on current state of Department of State client needs through facilitated brainstorming, analysis, and prioritization

  • Validate Department of State client ideas, assess processes or tasks for streamlining and/or automation, and determine feasibility and complexity

  • Design and develop data science solutions per client needs and mission

  • Focus on a single priority project or juggle concurrent projects

  • Operate as a sole data science developer or collaborate on small teams of data scientists. Coordinate with Guidehouse project team to assess project ideas and how to present to Department of State clients

  • Develop machine learning models using Python or R

  • Develop data visualizations and dashboards using Power BI or Tableau

  • Present products and findings to clients and answer questions about methods and results

  • Support business development (such as RFP, RFQ, and RFI responses and white papers) and internal firm initiatives

  • Continue to develop professionally and expand skills related to data science, analytics, and consulting


What You Will Need:

  • Ability to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a SECRET Federal or DoD security clearance

  • B.S. or B.A. in a quantitative, analytical, and computational discipline

  • THREE (3) or more years of relevant professional experience in data science and analytics

  • Expertise in wrangling data, performing statistical analysis, and developing machine learning models using Python or R

  • Ability to be on client site at least 2 days a week


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • M.S. or M.A. in a quantitative, analytical, and computational discipline

  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience in data science and analytics

  • Ability to understand client needs and context, design solutions, and drive initiatives forward

  • Strong presentation and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of small, collaborative teams

  • Experience developing data visualizations and dashboards using Power BI or Tableau

  • Experience querying databases using SQL

  • Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure

  • Experience supporting Federal Defense & Security organizations

The annual salary range for this position is $109,100.00-$163,700.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
