Job Description

Position Objective:

Manage manufacturing planning and scheduling function in a discrete manufacturing, low volume high mix environment. Coordinate activities related to routings, template application, capacity planning, production and aftermarket scheduling decisions in a Lean and safe environment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to production planners.
  • Ensure proper scheduling in an ERP environment.
  • Establish department goals, objectives and metrics.
  • Develop and apply capacity planning tools to level load shop.
  • Interact with Sales and Operations management in the S&OP process.
  • Drive cost reductions and continuous improvement through use of Lean tools
  • Works with Sales and Parts Sales on quoting anticipated lead times on potential orders, confirms delivery dates on firm orders, work with customer and internal demand/capacity to level production load, use rough-cut and detail capacity tool to plan and level department load and/or work with unit managers and procurement on outsourcing options.
  • Coordinates production planning resources and activity.
  • Schedules customer witness test dates and communicates with outside agencies to assure their attendance, host their visit to Kato when required.
  • Communicates with customers and sales (both parts and units) on any potential schedule variances.
  • Coordinates daily scheduling meeting, presents new load with options on loading new orders, determines engineering lead times and anticipates need of long lead BOMs.
  • Coordinates daily production and scheduling meeting, develop action item list coming out of meeting and root cause analysis on recurring actions.

Experience/Skills:

  • 3-5 years customer service with production planning experience
  • APICS certification
  • Minimum 5 years production planning management, customer service and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Oracle experience a plus

Education:

BS in Business Management or equivalent
