Schedule Details/Additional Information:

Full-time 7 days on / 7 days off schedule consisting of a combination of rounding and admission responsibilities. Rotating weekends and holidays required. Occasional cross-cover and night responsibilities may be needed based on departmental and operational needs.

Pay Range

$51.05 - $76.60

Carolinas Hospitalists Group is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join our inpatient Hospital Medicine team at CMC Main, Advocate Health’s flagship academic medical center.

Position Highlights

Full-time inpatient position
7 days on / 7 days off schedule
7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
100% inpatient adult medicine
Responsibilities include admissions and rounding
No call required; shifts may include cross-cover responsibilities
Collaborative, team-based approach alongside Hospital Medicine physicians and APPs
Work within a large academic and tertiary-care environment
Teaching opportunities available with APP students and fellows
Eligible for annual quality/performance incentive bonus

Ideal Candidate

Previous inpatient or Hospital Medicine experience preferred
Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Comfortable functioning within a multidisciplinary team model
Ability to independently perform thorough histories, physical exams, assessments, and treatment planning

Essential Functions

Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations
Develop and implement treatment and management plans
Order, interpret, and manage laboratory and radiology studies
Document patient encounters, assessments, and plans of care in the medical record
Write prescriptions and administer medications as appropriate
Perform procedures within scope of practice, if applicable
Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, specialists, and ancillary teams
Participate in departmental meetings, quality initiatives, and policy development
Serve as an advocate for the patient population served

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner Candidates

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
Master’s Degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice required
Acute Care certification required (ACNP or AGACNP preferred)
Current North Carolina NP/APRN and RN licensure required
DEA license and prescriptive authority required
BLS certification through the American Heart Association required and must remain valid at least 90 days beyond start date
National board certification required

Physician Assistant Candidates

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Master’s Degree preferred
NCCPA certification required/preferred
CAQ certification preferred
Current North Carolina PA licensure required
DEA license and prescriptive authority required
BLS certification through the American Heart Association required and must remain valid at least 90 days beyond start date

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling
Ability to lift and support up to 35 pounds when handling patients, supplies, or equipment
Ability to work effectively in stressful and fast-paced clinical situations
Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and occasional cross-cover responsibilities
