The Opportunity


Manulife Bank & Trust’s Mortgage Underwriting department is looking for a Bilingual Mortgage Underwriter to join the team!  You must be based out of Quebec or Halifax. Opportunity for cross training within the mortgage residential team.
 

Responsibilities

  • Review documents submitted by sales partners to identify and decision whether documents adhere to internal guidelines.
  • Ensure files are properly documented for reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills with our sales partners.
  • Ability to process a high work volume of files with attention to detail.
  • Manage the underwriting of residential mortgage applications. Exercise sound financial judgment in granting loans within delegated limits.
  • Manage your files with appropriate communication while working closely with the salesperson associated with the file.

What we are looking for

  • Two years’ experience in the financial industry.
  • Mortgage underwriting knowledge is a requirement.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • A goal oriented individual motivated to achieve performance goals.
  • Strong customer service and decisioning skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and handle several tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of banking systems.
  • Bilingual (French & English) is required - The successful candidate will be required to communicate in English and French in order to support clients from various jurisdictions outside of Quebec.
  • Identify and solve issues requiring a high degree of judgment and recommend solutions.
  • Overtime during peak season is a requirement.

Salary range is expected to be between

$50,250.00 CAD - $83,750.00 CAD
