Overview:

Sentara Health is hiring for a Medical Staff Specialist for Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center (SWRMC) in Williamsburg, VA!

Status: Full-Time, permanent position (40 hours)

Standard working hours: 8 hour dayshift

Location: This is a hybrid position. Will report 3 days a week at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center (SWRMC) in Williamsburg, VA and 2 days from home. Subject to change depending on hospital needs.  

Job overview:

  •  Supports the Medical Staff function with a variety of duties to include the appointment and reappointment processes, as well as with committee and department support.

Job responsibilities:

  • Reviews applications for initial appointment, modifications of privileges, and reappointment; performs final Quality Control check and identifies issues that require follow up; ensures that follow up is accomplished by medical staff leadership or by colleagues. Organizes and presents applications for initial appointment and reappointment to Credentials Committee and department chairs. Assigns files to relevant leaders for review. Ensures that files are processed timely and accurately through the medical staff process up to the Governing Body review. Notifies the applicant(s) and all relevant parties of the disposition of the credentialing action.

  • Ensures information related to clinicians in the clinician database is current and accurate. Identifies needs related to credentialing and medical staff governance that require collaboration with other facilities and initiates collaboration with colleagues. Provides required support for all meetings related to credentialing, privileging, and medical staff governance to include meeting minutes and carrying out follow up actions or ensuring that others carry out follow up actions in a timely and accurate manner. Ensures medical staff compliance with regulatory requirements through collaboration and communication with medical staff leaders, colleagues, and senior management. Ensures that all expirables (board certification, license, Drug Enforcement Administration, etc.) are current for all practicing practitioners. Provides support and partnership for medical staff communications. Ensures thorough collaboration and partnership with senior management medical staff compliance with its governing documents.

Education:

  • HS - High School Grad or Equivalent REQUIRED

Certification/Licensure:

  • None required

Experience:

  • Administrative - 3 years REQUIRED
