Position Summary:

Primarily responsible for analyzing the creditworthiness of debt securities issued by municipal and non-for-profit borrowers. Occasionally will assist in other asset classes, including corporate bonds, structured credit, tax credits, or alternative investments.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Applies fundamental knowledge to assist in the analysis of investment grade and high yield municipal and non-for-profit debt issuers across a wide variety of sectors.
  • Works to develop and maintain written credit evaluations including issuer overview, industry and competitive analysis, financial statement analysis, relative value analysis, and other relevant information based on qualitative and fundamental factors.
  • Assists in monitoring existing holdings within the portfolio and maintaining the research database.
  • Supports the analysis of deals in the primary and secondary markets.
  • Conducts analysis to aid in the appropriate buy, sell, and hold recommendations to the portfolio managers both verbally and in writing within a relative value framework.
  • Performs quarterly valuations of various private debt and private equity investments under guidance.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Preferably in Finance, Accounting and/or Economics.
    • Open to Political Science / Government / Other Liberal Arts Majors
  • 0 - 2 years in credit research, trading, investment / commercial banking, industry analysis, financial research, or a related field.
  • Relevant coursework and internship experience will be considered.
  • CFA/MBA/ MS Finance Program or willingness to pursue; strongly preferred.
  • Relevant experience in the specific asset class a plus, though not a requirement.
  • Experience with the following a plus: Aladdin, Bloomberg, Python
  • The following skills are a plus: Intermediate to Advanced Excel, General knowledge of public finance.
  • CFA / MBA / MS Finance Program or willingness to pursue; strongly preferre
