Data Engineering Manager (Data Operations)

As Manager of Data Engineering, with focus on Data Operations (Data Ops) you are a key member of the EDO (Enterprise Data Office) leadership team and play a significant role in enabling Capital Group’s data strategy. You will help drive the creation of a best-in-class Data Operations function to support a data supply chain that provides for Capital’s data and analytics needs across its lines of business.

You will be presented with significant intellectual and technical challenges and provide enormous opportunity for business impact. You will develop and evolve a data operations center practice, bringing a unified operations and support capability across Capital’s data estate. As an inspiring people leader, you will bring passion to our mission and drive for superior long-term results through the application of modern operations practices and analytical methods. You will demonstrate high judgment, deep operations, and technical experience. You will apply data-driven processes that strengthen Capital Group’s data management activities.

As a collaborative partner you will engage with business groups across Capital Group as well as data product, engineering and platform teams, partners such as data governance, information and analytics, security, infrastructure, and IT product teams.

As Manager with focus Data Operations, you will lead the data operations support team to operate a world class data supply chain that provides speed of access for exploration and experimentation while ensuring protection, privacy, timeliness, security, quality/accuracy, and provenance of data assets to support all of Capital’s various data needs.

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related technical field
  • You have 10+ years of experience in leading Data Engineering, Data Operations and Technology teams and resources
  • You have demonstrated experience in defining operational metrics and measures, service level objectives, and creating dashboards and other means of monitoring and communicating operational health and service level adherence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill to senior leaders and executives
  • You have background in value stream analysis, stakeholders’ collaboration to drive optimization and proven record of driving efficiency and continuous improvement, across regions and large organizations
  • You have experience with vendor management and establishing vendor SLA and accountability metrics
  • You have background in providing input into organization strategy and roadmap
  • You have Program management experience and delivery for large and complex projects
  • You foster an environment of agile thinkers and have successfully hired, developed, and led a high performing team

Southern California Base Salary Range: $187,370-$299,792

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
