Job Description Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead, Web Development to provide hands-on technical leadership for our web platforms and guide a team delivering modern, accessible, high-performing digital experiences. This role blends technical strategy, architectural oversight, and team leadership. While Drupal is our primary CMS, the ideal candidate brings a broad understanding of modern web ecosystems, experimentation platforms, analytics, performance optimization, and AI-era discoverability (SEO + GEO).Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture:
Serve as the technical authority for Drupal-based websites and supporting web applications (Drupal 10+)
Guide architectural decisions related to scalability, performance, security, and maintainability
Provide hands-on technical guidance, code review, and problem-solving support to the team
Ensure best practices across Drupal development, including Layout Builder, component-based theming, and configuration management
Lead evaluation and adoption of modern tools, frameworks, and development patterns
Team Leadership & Delivery:
Lead, mentor, and develop a growing team of front-end and back-end web developers
Establish and enforce development standards, workflows, and quality expectations
Oversee planning, estimation, sprint execution, code reviews, testing, and deployments
Balance technical excellence with delivery timelines and business priorities
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with UX and design teams using tools such as Figma to deliver high-quality implementations
Work as part of a tightly integrated delivery team that includes UX designers and content authors.
Partner with external agencies, analytics specialists, and other IT platform leads to ensure consistent standards, integrations, and execution across teams.
Support personalization, experimentation, and optimization initiatives using tools such as Adobe Analytics and Adobe Target
Act as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
Operational Excellence
Drive continuous improvement across development workflows, automation, CI/CD pipelines, documentation, and release management.
Ensure adherence to accessibility standards (WCAG), SEO best practices, performance guidelines, and security requirements.
Maintain working knowledge of Linux-based hosting environments and operational considerations
Ensure technical foundations support traditional SEO and AI-driven discovery
Monitor site health & performance using tools such as New Relic, Acquia & Cloudflare
Required Qualifications
8+ years of professional web development experience, including Drupal-based platforms
2–3+ years of technical leadership experience (mentoring developers, leading architectural decisions)
Strong understanding of Drupal architecture, module ecosystems, and development best practices (including Layout Builder), without requiring the candidate to be a Drupal-only specialist.
Knowledge of DevOps principles, cloud hosting environments, and CI/CD tools.
Proven ability to lead teams through complex requirements, technical assessments, and cross-functional alignment.
Understanding of performance optimization, accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+), and SEO fundamentals.
Monitor site health & performance using tools such as New Relic, Acquia & Cloudflare
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with additional CMS platforms or headless architecture.
Prior experience working with external agencies, contractors, or globally distributed teams.
Nice to have – experience with the following tools and platforms: Acquia, Cloudflare, BrowserStack, Adobe Analytics & Adobe Target, New Relic, Search Stax
