Seneca Global Services is seeking a High Energy Laser SME ready to support a dynamic, innovative acquisition program. This position will perform in-depth program analysis and coordination assignments, and services in support of the program. The ideal candidate for this role must be comfortable working in a transparent, collaborative team environment and possess outstanding communication, leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. 

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

The High Energy Laser (HEL) SME will be responsible for assisting in identifying capability gaps and shortfalls, determining new technology and system requirements, identifying possible solutions, assessing technology maturation and advancements to address suitability of developed solutions, and assessing testing and integration requirements, costs, and activities and their results. Key support for S&T T&E efforts related to the High Energy Laser Systems test operations, test design, and optical path design for high energy systems.

  • Perform as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for in T&E at the High Energy Laser Systems Test Facility (HELSTF) with emphasis on HEL test operations, test design, and optical path design for high energy systems.
  • Provide technology domain expertise in high energy laser, high-power microwave and electro-optics.
  • Support advanced efforts at the HELSTF such as the Strategic Long Range Beam Director (SLBD) and other modernization efforts.
  • Provide analytical assessments associated with S&T concepts in HEL including design of experiments within test planning.
  • Provide assessment of statistical methods for relevance and robustness of conclusions analysis.
  • Support of the development, acquisition, fielding, and sustainment of defense systems, especially in the case of critical technology areas; administering the JMETC (Joint Mission Environment Test Capability).
  • Support T&E/S&T (Test & Evaluation/Science &Technology) Programs.
  • Provide technical and acquisition expertise for future military T&E acquisition activities and for ongoing project support.
  • Provide support for complex testing assets that operate on unique internal networks or stand-alone capabilities. Such as but not limited to:
    • Command and control systems communications and telemetry, data collection systems.
    • Anechoic and cryogenic chambers
    • Optics and radar systems
    • Numerous esoteric sensor
  • Assist in test planning and analysis functions.
  • Assist in DOD T&E acquisition efforts, as well as focused risk reduction for future, imminent, and in-progress efforts.
  • Identify capability gaps and shortfalls, determine new technology and system requirements, identify possible solutions.
  • Assess technology maturation and advancements to address suitability of developed solutions, and
  • Assess integration activities and their results.
  • Perform in acquisition project advisory roles and responsibilities throughout the life cycle of projects in area of specialized documentation support such as:
    • Development and coordination of project artifacts, reports, action items, briefing charts, etc.
    • Development and the review of draft process documentation and reports prior to submission for approval.
  • Support program meetings, reviews, testing and interchanges.
  • Assist T&E/S&T acquisition program support activity in establishing key performance indicators to institute performance measures.
  • Analyzing various T&E/S&T and capability development acquisition program strategic resource documents.
  • Analyze metrics that correlate to program area business needs, such as time, cost, quality, and the associated relevance and value of T&E systems, prototypes, and novel technologies.
  • Assisting with the establishment and implementation of performance baseline and measurement for T&E/S&T and capability development program projects.
  • Assess technology maturation and readiness of candidate and current T&E/S& T and capability development efforts.
  • Recommend key performance parameters (KPPs) associated with the requirements for a candidate T&E technology for program acceptance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • An active Top-Secret Clearance Required; Secret Clearance with ability to receive Top Secret may be accepted.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field; years of experience may be used as a substitute for education.
  • Focus or certification in nuclear or directed energy
  • 5-12 years of experience in a related field.
  • Expertise/knowledge/experience with the following:
    • Applies principles of Physics to solve complex problems and advance scientific knowledge.
    • Conducting research & trade studies
    • Designing experiments and analyzing data.
    • Developing theoretical models to address challenges in various fields such as energy, materials science, or quantum mechanics.
    • Agile DevSecOps (SCRUM/JIRA/Confluence)
