Global Transaction Banking ("GTB") is comprised of four business lines: Corporate Cash Management ("CCM"), Financial Institutions ("FI"), Global Trade Finance ("GTF") and Export Agency Finance ("EAF"). Key support functions include Credit Structuring, Product and Client Solutions, Business Intelligence and Business Risk / Control.

GTB is a key growth business within TDS offering innovative solutions and treasury advisory services on large and complex liquidity, payments and trade needs. Over the last decade, we have seen unprecedented levels of innovation within our industry which GTB continually adapts to meet our client's needs. GTB is highly integrated within TDS and TD Bank Financial Group and works in close partnership with Risk, Operations, Legal, GAML, and Treasury and Balance Sheet Management.

Global Transaction Banking, Treasury Solutions, Financial Institutions Team

Financial Institutions provides Canadian payment clearing and settlement services to financial institutions globally who fall within our strategy and risk appetite. As an integral team member in FI coverage, you will have responsibility for managing product profitability, provide exceptional client servicing, act as first line of defense for risk and Internal compliance, as well as support a broader TDS wide client relationship management mandate. Effective and impactful FI coverage means delivering one-TD to our FI clients and prospects to developing 'partner' banks. Internally within TDS, one-TD means working in close collaboration with partners in Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange and TD's Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) to achieve strategic outcomes.

Job Scope

The Director will report to both the Executive Managing Director, Regional Head, TD Securities, Asia Pacific and Managing Director, Regional Head of Asia Pacific, Global Transaction Banking and Financial Institutions Coverage. Accountabilities for the role includes (but not limited to):

  • A liaison only role supporting the GTB origination team in Singapore (no sales/marketing activity is allowed to be conducted on-shore in South Korea).

  • Local relationship management function to new and existing FI and Corporate clients in South Korea.

  • Be an ambassador to represent TD Bank at client events, functions, and seminars.

  • Attend client relationship meetings with TD Bank colleagues from TD Securities (Global Markets & Corporate Investment Bank) team members.

  • Support TD Bank's potential growth strategy in South Korea and build relationships with clients and prospects as a liaison officer.

  • Works closely with the Regional Head and GTB relationship managers, and other global markets/CIB product sales in all aspects related to the business, not limited to providing local intelligence, market trends and analysis, market nuances, relationship management related activities and other administrative requirements.

  • Forward any onshore client escalations with urgency while maintaining the highest level of service and support throughout the process.

  • Significant focus on regulatory, credit, reputational and operational risk control and management.

  • Work closely with other partners within TD Securities across various regions including but not limited to: Investment Banking, Credit Origination, Credit Management, Foreign Exchange, Money Markets, among others to provide local market intelligence.

  • To build strong relationships with local supervisory boards, regulators and government entities.  

  • Full understanding and adherence to the Bank’s AML policies and procedures are required.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent English communication and verbal skill is required.

  • Local Korean language written, and verbal capability is required to liaise with onshore Korean-speaking clients.

  • Financial Institutions and Corporate clients support experience at the corporate/institutional level is of high interest.

  • Ability to work effectively in both independent, team environments and has a strong entrepreneurial mindset.

  • Effective organizational skills and flexibility for adapting to changing priorities.

  • Strong work ethic and commitment to business goals and high professional standards.

  • Sound knowledge of MS Office applications (Word/Excel/Access/Powerpoint).

  • Degree in Finance or related area preferred Industry experience and accreditations (CFA, CTP, CertICM, etc) are highly desirable.
