Position Highlights:

What you will do:
Under general supervision, renders professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician’s treatment plans in order to provide quality patient care.  In doing so, assesses patients’ condition, recognizes deviations, administers prescribed drugs, provides treatments, observes patients’ progress, records pertinent observations and reports reactions to drugs and treatments and takes follow up action as needed.  Develops or assists in developing patient treatment plans.  Assists physicians with cases, procedures or examinations, functions as a team player to fulfill unit goals. Delivers and ensures customer service in all aspects to job, being attentive of eye contact, facial/body expressions and tone of voice. Explains procedure to patient, giving opportunity for questions to reduce anxiety and promote trust.

What you will need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

  • Critical Care experience preferred.

  • Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure required.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required.

  • A relatively high level of analytical ability is required.  Incumbents must collect, analyze, and interpret data in order to solve problems requiring a professional level of knowledge in a specific discipline and/or design relatively complex clinical or administrative systems and programs.

  • A relatively high level of communication skills is required in order to lead, teach, and persuade others and/or interact effectively with others in very difficult situations.

  • Work is not completely standardized.  Assignments are often received in the form of results expected, due dates, and general procedures to follow.

  • Work requires the ability to walk or stand for an hour of more at a time, lift or carry objects weighing more than 20 pounds, push or pull laundry or supply carts, gurneys or wheelchairs, lift and position patients, proofread and check documents for errors, use a keyboard to enter, retrieve or transform words or data, closely examine specimens, images, or reports.

  • Work conditions include working in a confined area for two or more hours at a time, working with equipment or performing procedures where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises, or muscle strains, arresting or restraining patients or others, and performing laboratory or patient care duties requiring extreme precautions to avoid illness or injury.
