Summary:
The Application Packaging Engineer is responsible for designing, creating, testing, and deploying software packages across enterprise environments. This role ensures consistent and secure application delivery using tools like InstallShield, SCCM, Intune, and PowerShell. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, interact directly with customers, and maintain high standards of documentation and compliance. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and optimization are essential.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Application Packaging & Lifecycle Management
• Create and manage application packages using InstallShield, PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit, and other scripting tools.
• Assess deployment strategies and select optimal methods based on infrastructure and technical constraints.
• Conduct discovery calls with application owners and coordinate packaging requests.
• Perform conflict detection, resolution, and integration testing.
• Deploy packages for User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and release through change management processes.
• Maintain SOPs, best practices, and documentation for packaging procedures.
• Ensure compliance with version control and configuration standards.
Deployment & Support
• Deploy applications via SCCM and Intune to LAN and remote devices.
• Provide L2/L3 support for packaging and deployment issues.
• Troubleshoot failed deployments and proactively resolve incidents.
• Monitor and report on deployment success and SLA adherence.
• Support packaging for AVD environments and troubleshoot related issues.
Collaboration & Optimization
• Work directly with customers to understand infrastructure and requirements.
• Collaborate with developers, software owners, and support teams to ensure “right first time” delivery.
• Recommend and implement improved toolsets and automation strategies.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors and internal teams for release defect resolution.

Professional & Technical Skills:
• Hands-on experience with:
o InstallShield, AdminStudio, Flexera
o MSI packaging, App-V, MSIX
o SCCM, Intune, PowerShell scripting
o Ticketing tools: ServiceNow, TopDesk
o MAC packaging (good to have)
• Strong understanding of:
o Windows OS architecture (Win 10/11), 32-bit and 64-bit systems
o Application virtualization and deployment strategies
o Troubleshooting tools: ProcMon, Orca, Picture Taker, InstallRite
o Packaging for AVD and Citrix environments (XenApp, XenDesktop, NetScaler)
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to manage SLAs and deliver high-quality support services
• Experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation and SOPs
• Good to have certifications
o Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
o Flexera Certified Professional (InstallShield)
o ITIL® Foundation Certification
o Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator
o PowerShell Scripting Certification (recommended)

• Familiarity with enterprise ITSM tools and SLA tracking is preferred.

• 5+ years of relevant experience in application packaging and deployment.
• Minimum 15 years of full-time education, with a Bachelor or engineering degree.
