Job Description Summary

               

This position provides technical engineering expertise with a focus on case packing, case forming, case closing, and packaging systems used in Lamb Weston. The person in this position will be responsible for documenting, tracking, and directing technical maintenance of these systems. Equipment includes product distribution scales, bagging, casing, palletizing, and wrapping. Additionally, a key responsibility is developing and maintaining technical, operational, and service documentation as well as best practices for manufacturing plants. The incumbent will spend a large portion of their time improving asset utilization of company packaging systems.

As a member of the Global Engineering Technical Support team, this person will be charged with working with plant operations, EHS, Food Protection, Continuous Improvement, engineering teams and OEM vendors, to achieve next level performance and utilization of case packing technology. All this will facilitate Lamb Weston’s Journey to Zero.

Job Description

Provide leadership in establishing safety of all our associates to World Class Safety and Zero Incidents as a primary objective. 

  • Support and provide Leadership in Quality and Food Safety to achieve goals of Zero Foreign Material. 
  • Provide subject matter expertise for bagging, casing, palletizing, and wrapping equipment to actively improve asset utilization through elimination of unplanned mechanical downtime. 
  • Support the team in providing project and technical design when required. 
  • Demonstrate professional maturity in decision making and effective communication with various departments and managers to ensure project team resources are efficiently utilized. 
  • Prepare and maintain meeting agendas and minutes. 
  • Assist and Maintain Technical documentation, best practices, drawings, project documents. 
  • Leads training and assembly of Lamb Weston technologies when needed. 
  • Participates in project meetings. 
  • Provides up-to-date copies of drawings and specifications to contractors, project team, and plant personnel. 
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control: Assists in verifying that all materials installed comply with Lamb Weston approved submittals, and Standards. 
  • Participates in project FAT/SAT process. 
  • Monitors packaging system performance, especially case packing and closing systems, to identify needed improvements and act to implement them. 

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering plus 5+ years of related experience; or 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree. 
  • Knowledge of case forming, case packing, and case closing systems is a must 
  • Packaging equipment design and operation experience preferred. 
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Leadership skills to work as a peer and advisor to other departments. 
  • Ability to rotate shifts and work weekends and holidays when required. 
  • Must be detail orientated, possess excellent technical and analytical skills, and be a proven self-starter. 
  • Demonstrated capability to work on teams in a leadership or support role. 
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational skills, and report writing. 
  • Excellent knowledge of food manufacturing processes, regulations, and requirements is beneficial. 
  • Knowledge of LW specific operations processes and programs is a benefit. 
  • Experience and knowledge of industrial plant construction, codes, practices, and engineering requirements is also of benefit. 
  • Proficient using Microsoft office suite, including MS Project and other computer applications including CAD systems, and SAP. 
  • Read and understand basic electrical schematics 
  • Travel up to 30% of the time on average with occasional peaks above average, including periodic international travel. Must have a passport or the ability to get a passport in a timely fashion.

Physical Environment/Demands:    

  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal using typical office equipment during a normal workday 
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment  
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments for up to 8 hours per workday may include: loud noise, vibration, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and allergens   
  • May be exposed to temperatures ranging from 37° to 90°F while working in a Plant Operation and from -20° to 35°F while working in a Freezer Operation.  
  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, turning and reaching may be required in completion of job duties. 
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.   
  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for job actions and procedures. 
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.  
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.   
  • Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis  
  • Ability to operate work related equipment 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 
  • Valid Driver’s License and driving record that meets Lamb Weston Driving Standards 
  • Travel up to 30% of the time on average with occasional peaks above average, including periodic international travel. Must have a passport or the ability to get a passport in a timely fashion.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate's work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role is listed below.

               

Pay Rate or Range: $101,730.00 - $152,600.00
