What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans for electronic drivetrain and chassis control systems including (but not limited to):
    • All Wheel Drive Torque Distribution
    • Brake Torque Vectoring
    • Driver Steering Recommendation
    • Drag Torque Regulation
    • Drive Slip Regulation
  • Hands on calibration of customer focused chassis control systems to meet the Ride, Steering, Handling, Stability, and Braking performance demands of an emerging electric vehicle market.
  • Carry out in-depth analysis of software documentation and feature set labeling to ensure clarity, accuracy and alignment with product functionality.
  • Analyze and optimize chassis and propulsion feature sets for performance, efficiency and diagnostic functions.
  • Conduct simulation and real-world testing to evaluate the performance of electronic chassis control systems in normal, adverse, and emergency scenarios.
  • Perform in vehicle limit handling on high friction, low friction and off-road driving environments at various test locations and environments.
  • Develop and execute plans to meet program milestones, regulatory requirements, and a successful launch.
  • Partner with other concept & systems architect teams to produce solutions to engineering & functional challenges
  • Coordinate and collaborate with suppliers on integration and validation plans and activities.

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan
  • The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company on a regular basis.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in an engineering field of study
  • 4+ years of experience in vehicle concept engineering or serial development, in the work scope of calibration and validation of software functions and calibration tools including ETAS and MATLAB
  • Ability to read and understand Simulink flow diagrams and C-programming source code
  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, driving behavior evaluations, chassis control theory, and electronic control units (ECUs).
  • A passion for vehicle operation and performance, specifically in truck and off-road vehicle development.
  • Experience with electric vehicles or hybrid propulsion systems.
  • Vehicle limit handling driving abilities in precision and emergency maneuvers documented by standardized licensing testing (SAE, TRC, OEM Specific).
  • Advanced project steering and coordination skills to practice independent project management for a defined development scope.
  • Knowledge of module and zonal vehicle communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, FlexRay.
  • Hands-on experience with in-vehicle testing on public roads, proving grounds and specialized test tracks.
  • Motivation to work at the cutting edge of electric vehicle technical design, creation of new ideas and solutions, and enjoyment of hands-on vehicle testing.
  • Flexibility for domestic and international travel as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, task ownership, self-motivation, problem solving, innovation creativity and communication skills.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $120,000 - $135,000

Internal leveling code: IC9
