Cleveland Clinic's Integrated Hospital Care Institute is currently seeking a qualified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Critical Care Advanced Practice Team at Mercy Hospital. This role offers a high degree of autonomy while working within a supportive, team-based environment caring for diverse patient populations in a mixed MICU/SICU setting, including Level II trauma patients. Additional service line includes the CCU.
Role & Responsibilities:
Provide independent, high-level critical care to acutely ill patients.
Perform H&Ps from the ED, floor consultations, and daily rounding.
Manage procedures including central line placement, arterial lines, and intubations.
Write admission orders, coordinate care plans, and engage in patient/family discussions.
Collaborate with attending physicians and consulting teams.
Respond to hospital-wide emergencies, including rapid responses, sepsis alerts, stroke alerts, and code blues—providing assessment, resuscitation, and appropriate disposition.
Participate in 24/7 coverage with in-house attending support during daytime hours and eICU resources available overnight.
Training & Support
New APPs receive comprehensive onboarding, structured mentorship, and access to didactic resources to ensure success in providing high-quality patient care within the critical care team.
Schedule:
7 days on / 7 days off schedule with 12-hour shifts (7a–7p and 7p–7a).
All APPs share in the night rotation.
Straight nights option (with shift differential) available if preferred
Day-only schedules are not available at this time.

APRN: Nationally certified licensed healthcare provider who provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with a physician according to a standard care arrangement and specialty certification. Provides advanced nursing care to patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic health conditions, including the delivery of acute care services. Practices in any setting in which patients require complex monitoring and therapies, high intensity nursing intervention, or continuous nursing vigilance within the range of high-acuity care.
PA: Nationally certified licensed healthcare provider who provides primary and or specialty medical care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions with the collaboration agreement of a Physician, (as per O.R.C. 4730). Develops a working diagnosis and treatment plan based on histories and physical exam, providing continuing medical care, including daily examinations, writing orders, chart notes. PA's are privileged by the Board of Governors. PA's in this role provide advanced care to patients within any setting in which patients have complex, acute, critical and chronic health conditions. Practices in any setting in which patients require complex monitoring and therapies and high intensity medical interventions and/or continuous vigilance within the range of high-acuity care.
