Registered Nurse (RN) – Infusion  


Join Cleveland Clinic Akron General's Bath Health and Wellness Center and become part of a top healthcare system in Akron. This patient-friendly facility offers a variety of primary care, emergency care and specialty services along with Lifestyles, a medically based fitness program and facility. 
 

While treating cancer, our goal is to minimize unwanted side effects and improve quality of life. So, Akron General offers satellite infusion services at the Bath Health and Wellness Center so patients can receive chemotherapy close to home in a comfortable, convenient location.  
 

A caregiver in this position works 8:00am – 4:30pm.  
 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices.  

  • Delegate appropriate patient care activities to other caregivers.  

  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment.  

  • Instruct patients in the collection of samples and tests.  

  • Ensure the completion of patient histories, obtain vital signs and maintain timely flow of patients. 

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. 

  • Prepare equipment and aid the physician during treatment, examinations, and tests. 

  • Observe, record, and report patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physician. 

  • Collaborate with scheduling caregivers and physicians in the coordination of appointment scheduling.  

  • Ensure timely treatment of patients in acute and emergency situations. 

  • Answer the telephone promptly and courteously, screen calls, take messages, provide information and follow up on patient issues in a timely manner. 

  • Instruct patients and family members regarding medication and treatment instructions. 

  • Maintain and review patient's records, charts, and other pertinent information.  

  • Post tests and examination results in patient records. 

  • Schedule patient appointments, diagnostic testing and procedures ordered by the physician. 

  • Maintain exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials.  

  • Order medical supplies needed. 

  • Promote health and wellness in the practice and community and serve as a patient advocate. 

  • Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements.  

  • Maintains applicable certifications/licensure.  


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.  

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio. 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).  

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care. 


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Minimum one year of professional nursing experience in an infusion center setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
  • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
  • Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
