About the Position

Group 1001 is seeking an Associate Director, Data Services serves as part of a shared services operations team supporting a variety of Data Management and Data Warehouse initiatives hosted in Azure.  As a member of the Data Services Team, this individual will have the primary responsibility to ensure successful data processing while continuously improving team tools, processes, and procedures.  This position is responsible for managing a team of professionals, developing new solutions & resolving issues using standard Azure tools and Business Intelligence best practices in collaboration with the team. Other duties include creating and testing new applications, system monitoring, and analytic solutions; leading team members to improve technical skills, learn best practices, and collaborate to improve the maturity and scalability of systems.  The candidate must demonstrate a strong technical knowledge of T-SQL, SDLC or Agile, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, PowerShell, SSIS, SSAS, Data Factory, DevOps and Azure Platforms. Ownership and accountability for deliverables and attention to detail are a must, as is the ability to multi-task and execute under pressure.  This position is based in the Zionsville office.

Specific Responsibilities Include

  • Lead and mentor a team to deliver high-quality insights and data solutions
  • Make decisions regarding resource alignment, project criticality, and prioritization.
  • Ensures on-time completion of all application deliverables, including but not limited to the Data Lakehouse and Data Integration Layer processes.
  • Recognizes, identifies, triages and resolves processing and/or data issues; escalates to the appropriate resource where required.
  • Collaborates with power- and end-users to resolve processing and/or data issues.
  • Performs system and component level, coding, testing, and documentation for application development projects.
  • Assists in development of project efforts providing estimates for development and documentation.
  • Identifies and recommends methods for improved automation, faster data processing, better monitoring, and process transparency across all stakeholders.
  • Ensures existing standards and methodologies are in place and works together with the development team to identify and implement enhanced standards and methodologies for development practices.
  • Provides feedback to the development team regarding bug fixes, enhancement requests and other issues.
  • Recommend strategies, procedures, and new technologies for implementation.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in information management, computer sciences or technically related area
  • 5+ years of experience with T-SQL
  • 5+ years’ experience with SDLC and/or Agile in a technical environment
  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, Powershell, SQL scripting
  • 3+ years of IT management experience as a team technical lead.
  • 3+ years of experience using SSIS, Data Factory, or any enterprise ETL tools.
  • Advanced skills developing and executing SQL queries for reporting, data extracts, stored procedures and troubleshooting.
  • Experience using DevOps, release management, CI/CD
  • Experience with cloud-based orchestration tools for monitoring and lineage.
  • Experience managing and creating Azure resources.
  • Database administration certifications desirable
  • Excellent oral, written, and listening and ability to clearly articulate complex technical information to others.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and solve problems and issues of all types.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships and work effectively with all departments and affiliates to ensure integration of strategic goals and principles.
  • Working knowledge of scrum development practices
  • Ability to develop an enterprise solution from beginning to end.
