We are seeking a Manager, Retail Experience Engineering to lead a high-performing team delivering scalable, secure, and intelligent retail solutions across our global markets.

This role requires a blend of technical depth, retail domain expertise, engineering leadership, and product delivery experience. The ideal candidate is an AI-first engineering leader who can leverage modern technologies, engineering practices, and business acumen to accelerate innovation while maintaining operational excellence.

 

About the Job 

Engineering Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Java, middleware, data, integration, and AI engineers.

  • Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.

  • Drive adoption of modern engineering practices and establish technical standards across the organization.

Product Delivery & Execution

  • Partner with Product Owners and business stakeholders to prioritize work, shape solutions, provide estimation and architectural guidance, influence product roadmaps, and ensure delivery aligns with business objectives.

  • Own engineering delivery across the software lifecycle, balancing quality, scalability, technical debt, and operational readiness.

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to influence product and technology decisions and drive successful business outcomes.

AI-First Engineering & Automation

  • Champion an AI-first approach to software development, problem solving, and operational efficiency.

  • Drive adoption of AI-enabled SDLC practices including specification-driven development, iterative development, agent-assisted engineering workflows, evaluation frameworks, automated testing, deployment automation, and continuous improvement.

  • Identify opportunities to improve developer productivity, accelerate delivery, and optimize operating costs through automation and AI-driven workflows.

Agile, DevOps & Operational Excellence

  • Define and evolve engineering and SDLC strategies, leveraging enterprise platforms and AI-enabled delivery practices.

  • Champion Agile methodologies, DevOps principles, CI/CD automation, observability, and incremental value delivery.

  • Drive engineering quality through automated testing, release governance, monitoring, and production support excellence.

  • Identify and resolve technical bottlenecks across applications, infrastructure, build pipelines, and deployment processes.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate effectively with Product, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, Data, and Business teams across global regions.

  • Represent the engineering organization in planning, governance, and enterprise initiatives.

  • Establish strong stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.

 

About You 

Technical Expertise

  • Strong foundation in software engineering, distributed systems, system architecture, networking, cloud platforms, and modern application design.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex business and technical challenges using an AI-first mindset.

  • Experience with AI orchestration, agent-based workflows, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and modern AI engineering practices.

  • Experience implementing AI-assisted SDLC processes spanning intake management, prioritization, planning, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and support.

  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, CI/CD, DevOps tooling, infrastructure automation, observability, and production operations.

Retail Domain Expertise

  • Strong understanding of retail business processes and omnichannel commerce ecosystems.

  • Experience with store systems, POS, payments, promotions, loyalty, inventory, order management, and associate-facing technologies.

  • Understanding of global retail operations and regional market nuances.

Leadership & Delivery Experience

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams within product, program, and engineering-led organizations.

  • Strong understanding of Agile frameworks and modern product delivery practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence across cross-functional teams and drive alignment among diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience building AI-enabled engineering organizations and managing globally distributed teams.

  • Exposure to enterprise retail platforms and large-scale integration environments.
