What you will do:
The logistics and distribution (L&D) leader’s role will be responsible for managing the Logistics and Distribution function for JCI within the Residential and Light Commercial business unit. Besides managing the direct and indirect activities related to L&D, this leader will need to develop strong working relationships with the business unit teams in procurement, sales, and operations as well as Product business leadership to ensure alignment of the L&D strategy to business needs.
Working in a high volume, fast paced, highly collaborative environment, this role will be responsible for management and oversight for the D.C.’s & Regional Warehouses, Reverse Logistics Processes, Finished Goods Inventory Control, regional and international transportation, as well as oversight for operational excellence, quality and packaging engineering function for the business unit. Reporting to the VP Global Logistics and Distribution, this position will ensure the timely and secure delivery of our products to our internal and external customers, have P&L responsibility for the regional warehousing and transportation network, and align with the PBU leadership and logistics teams to ensure that the Residential and Light Commercial strategy is aligned to support future business needs.
Your strategic thinking and the ability to inspire influence and demonstrate world-class change leadership across businesses and boundaries will be a major success factor. This is very important in the goal of executing the ongoing network optimization related to transportation and warehousing. This individual will serve as the Subject Matter Expert within the functional logistics and distribution space.
What you will do
Line management and oversight of operational, transactional and support functions for a high-volume Logistics & Distribution network, ensuring the achievement of safety, quality, financial (cost & productivity) and performance objectives for the logistics network.
Drive ongoing change management critical to the successful implementation of an optimized logistics network and inventory optimization strategy as well as conduct on-going revaluation and strategy for L&D network/structure.
Serve as primary interface and escalation point for the region with key regional business leaders in the Residential and Light Commercial business.
Support all business with solutions which enhance their respective business strategies.
Work collaboratively with the Product Business Unit logistics leads to ensure regional strategy is aligned to overall PBU directives as well as align operational performance results.
Ownership for inbound or outbound logistics operations for the region including domestic and international transportation and returns processing.
Work collaboratively with the procurement organization to manage carriers and third parties including selection, qualification and performance evaluation. Provide input to the Procurement team for rate negotiations and services.
Work collaboratively with the Trade Compliance organization to monitor product import and export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
Ensure carrier and third-party compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit and delivery.
Create and drive regional strategy aligned to L&D directives as well as ensure alignment and implementation of corporate mandated governance and standards initiatives.
Ensure a cultural environment that leads and supports JCI’s global health and environmental objectives and ensures a safe work environment for our employees.
Monitor and react to regional KPI’s, metrics and reports to ensure the performance of the regional L&D operation as well as drive monthly operational results and meeting cadence.
Overall ownership for the operational excellence program (JCMS) in the region and ensuring that the principals of LEAN and Continuous Improvement are embedded at all levels of the organization.
Develop strategies and resolve problems and escalations concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports, exports and customer issues.
Leadership to evaluate and review the business practices of Logistics Operations to streamline and eliminate non-value added activities as well as plan and implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems and processes to drive operational efficiency and cost reduction targets.
Oversight for inventory planning activity for products supplied through L&D operations, optimizing inventory and service levels for the enterprise working collaboratively with the Product business unit planning organization.
Direct responsibility for the planning team managing pass through products (3rd party product) to support the field organization.
Lead efforts from a L&D perspective to implement regional solutions to optimize the branch inventory.
Develop a structure that provide packaging engineering solutions to the businesses focused on Design for Delivery as well as managing the regional quality and packaging organization ensuring ongoing improvements in operations.
Develop a strategy and business case for Value Added Services (VAS) in the L&D network to support the products and I&S business
What we look for
Required
BA/BS in Supply Chain/Logistics/Business or other related field
15+ years’ experience in Logistics Operations
Proven ability to juggle multiple & often competing tasks and demands
Strong interpersonal and team building skills. Responsible for employee development.
Ability to work across as well as upwards in the organization both in L&D and across functions to establish strong working relationships and gain consensus for programs.
Ability to influence stakeholders, gain consensus and support as well as manage complex change across the organization.
Demonstrated ability to meet demanding deadlines
Strong Financial acumen
Attention to detail, organized, disciplined with process and policy
Preferred
Masters in a related discipline or MBA
