Job Description
The Insurance Product Contract job family works closely with line/state partners, legal, claims, underwriting, technology, and project management to analyze, develop, and implement needed contract changes in any Allstate Family of Companies line of business. Responsibilities include interfacing with all necessary internal customers, drafting contract language, coordinating the filing, and interfacing with state Departments of Insurance.
The Contract Lead Consultant will provide state contract support for multiple states, serve as subject matter expert for one or more large-scale contract initiatives, and works on projects that include, but are not limited to: compliance and discretionary contract changes, new product implementations, research requests, new law analysis, and other projects that are moderately to highly complex in nature. The Contract Lead Consultant is considered a subject matter expert and thought leader on insurance contracts and project management processes, understands how the contract fits into overall business strategy, and has an advanced understanding of state markets, competition and emerging trends. The Contract Lead Consultant must be able to read, understand, and draft contract language changes to meet strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
Contract Project Management
- Acts as subject matter expert/contract lead for products or initiatives, actively contributing to the development of product strategy and design that impacts contract
- Owns and implements contract projects/new ASC rollouts, developing business requirements, developing and making contract revisions, and completing other contract-related tasks adhering to required processes and standards
- Ensures that proposed contract language adheres to applicable state laws, meets stated business goals, and supports favorable relationships with state regulators
- Leads the development of project plans, and ensures that timelines are adhered to for contract-related milestones
- Communicates and presents project information to internal and external stakeholders
- Proactively identifies potential project risks and participates in and/or leads the development of plans/solutions to mitigate these risks
- Ensures project controls are in place throughout the lifecycle of the project
- Reviews technical specifications, validating output to ensure business requirements have been met
- Assists in determining where additional resources or expertise may be necessary to successfully complete projects/assignments
- Creates all post-implementation documentation associated with contract projects and ensures that project files are archived appropriately
- Actively builds and maintains strong relationships among teams and team members to ensure cooperation on project objectives
Process and Product Design/Improvement
- Solicits input from key stakeholders
- Evaluates processes and recommends efficiency improvements
- Establishes and communicates new and/or revised procedures and processes to team and/or stakeholders
- Understands and adheres to internal and external compliance requirements and standards
Product Management Support
- Serves as State Contract Consultant for multiple states, acting as main point of contact for all contract matters. Handles research requests, answers contract and coverage questions, and participates in the development of product strategies for the state
- Contributes to market share growth and profitability by recommending innovative/complex contract changes to products
- Determines the integration and delivery of planned changes/projects/products to the state
- Develops agency education as needed
- Understands and articulates market specific implications of business strategies
- Assures proper execution of regulatory and legislative practices
- Functions as a liaison between business unit and systems or other areas of responsibility as required based on the project or initiative
Research and Analysis
- Conducts insurance contract research and analysis, applying advanced knowledge of data sources and applications to conduct research
- Analyzes regulatory changes against contract to determine potential impacts to the product
- Can analyze data and review analysis from others
- Performs and evaluates moderate to complex trend analysis (e.g., competitor analysis, risk management, financial)
Functional Knowledge
- Continually seeks opportunities for learning and development to build advanced insurance contract expertise
- Leverages advanced understanding of current industry standards/environment to impact decisions
- Serves as a subject matter expert for their respective discipline(s) from an internal perspective
- With limited direction, drafts contract language in support of business goals
Knowledge Management
- Trains/coaches team members or peers
- Actively shares expertise among peers and other disciplines
- Responsible for informal leadership/coaching of other Contract Employees within department
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience
- Experience: 5+ years of related experience
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills; can identify and resolve unique problems within field of expertise, as well as analyze long-term impacts of new or anticipated strategies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary groups and all organizational levels
- High level organizational and project management skills to handle multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner and to monitor processes throughout a team or department
- Strong decision-making skills
- Works effectively in a team environment
- Possesses advanced working knowledge of policies and procedures in management or other technical fields including funding, prioritization, change management, and/or product governance

Compensation
Compensation offered for this role is $78,600.00 - 142,275.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
