What You Can Expect

This role will work on projects across all five verticals within S&C: US Primary Care & Specialty Care, Global Commercial Platform, Oncology Division, International Division and the Corporate and Research and Development “verticals”.

As a Manager in this team, you will have three main accountabilities:

1) Contribute to the development of each Business Unit’s strategic plan and corresponding strategies, ensuring a consistent structure to the plans created across Pfizer,

2) Lead portions of projects related to key strategic issues, and

3) Provide insight into the impact of market signals/trends that could affect business performance or strategic direction

You will have frequent exposure to a variety of senior leadership (VPs and Presidents) across Pfizer’s different business units, helping to build your network for a long and successful career at Pfizer. You will be reporting to a Director Team Lead who is invested in accelerating your growth and development at Pfizer.  This role also provides an opportunity to gain broader exposure and experience across all four verticals in Strategy & Consulting.

Your Responsibilities

  • Interact with BU leaders and/or corporate functions to understand their business needs and develop strategies at a global, and where appropriate, a regional level.  

  • Contribute to the completion of an annual strategic plan, as well as a strategic action plans that guide the execution of the strategies.

  • Under the direction of a Senior Manager, Director, Director Team Lead, or Senior Director, lead workstreams in a portfolio of projects that provide insight and direction for key strategic levers such as market development, customer needs assessment, competitive advantage, market and/or product prioritization.  

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of market dynamics in order to identify market trends and appropriately assess opportunities and guide strategic direction.  Provide perspective on the potential impact of external market signals that could impact future business performance.

  • Understand the priorities of governance bodies and/or corporate functional leads to understand business needs and represent the current status of opportunity evaluations.

  • Create an engaging and productive work environment where team members are encouraged to collaborate and excel

  • Participate in internal/external networking and thought partnership to broaden functional expertise and maintain awareness of industry trends

Who You Are

Successful candidates for this role typically bring the following skills and experiences:

  • Demonstrated strong strategic thinking skills, as evidenced by the ability to tee up the right questions, identify alternative scenarios, articulate resulting implications, and develop recommendations for decision-making or action

  • Demonstrated project leadership potential, managing workstreams and small teams of cross-functional colleagues with varying backgrounds and skillsets

  • Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders without direct authority (Category Presidents, department leaders, and functional counterparts)

  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, including technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and the ability to coach Junior team members

  • Basic understanding of trends and market dynamics in US and Global healthcare and biopharmaceuticals, awareness of competitor strategies, and basic understanding of the drug development process

  • Excellent presentation skills sufficient to address Global BU Leadership, and external audiences

  • Demonstrated high learning agility, “team player” mentality, and positive attitude and poise under pressure

  • Basic understanding of finance and P&L implications of any strategy

  • Strong command of English language, spoken and written.  

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of relevant life sciences or healthcare experience, OR advanced degree (Masters, PhD, MD or equivalent) plus 3 years of relevant healthcare experience.

  • Successful completion of the Pfizer 2024 S&C Summer Associate Program

  • Relevant healthcare experience includes experience working in/with commercial biopharma functions involving strategy development and/or strategic initiatives (e.g., marketing, commercial development, market access & pricing, etc.)

  • 2+ years of biopharmaceutical consulting experience preferred

  • Work Location Assignment:  Our roles require a high level of collaboration and are subject to Pfizer's flexible hybrid policy of 2- 3 days per week working from our brand-new NYC-based global headquarters.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $99,900.00 to $166,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 15.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
