The Role:

The Analyst/Event Accountant is an integral finance/accounting role focused on enhancing business reporting and delivering accurate, timely financial information to support decision-making for various On Location properties.

The position will report to the Manager of Event Accounting and help drive efficiencies around sales reporting, wider event budgeting/forecasting, and detailed post-event accounting reconciliations.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical analytics and accounting experience (preferably within Events or Hospitality) along with the adaptability, resilience to change and inter-personal skills necessary to thrive in large people-oriented organizations. The candidate must have a pro-active approach to work as well as a willingness and interest in understanding the nature of the business and the many factors affecting it.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Partner with P&L lead and Operations teams to support event finances.

  • Support the P&L lead of each assigned event to ensure they have clear and concise information for decision making.

  • Conduct quantitative analysis of operational and financial data, including monthly financial analysis, ongoing event projections, reforecasting, variance analysis, channel planning and product analysis.

  • Identify, consolidate, and manage reporting data from multiple sources

  • Provide weekly variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year

  • Support budget and forecast builds by summarizing actuals as a baseline to inform strategic planning discussions

  • Flag potential risks and opportunities as necessary

  • Perform month-end close activities, including but not limited to:

    • Ensure the month end P&L and balance sheet are in line with forecast.

    • Provide commentary to any variance to forecast.

    • Coordinate with Operations to ensure appropriate Event Accruals are accounted for in compliance with GAAP standards.

    • Ensure accuracy of accounting coding to report on actuals efficiently.

  • Ensure weekly cash flow requests are accurate, complete, and communicated to management appropriately.

  • Complete weekly ad hoc reports/projects as required.

  • Will be occasionally required to work outside of standard working hours or on weekends at events

Knowledge and Experience:

Mandatory

  • Advanced Microsoft Office experience, particularly Microsoft Excel

  • Strong experience in accounting, finance & budgeting

Desirable:

  • Event experience

  • SAP/Netsuite accounting software knowledge

  • CPA (or qualified through experience)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience presenting analyses to management

  • Eagerness to be resourceful

  • Excellent planning & organizational skills to manage multiple projects & deadlines simultaneously; highly organized

  • Process orientated and able to manage and reconcile large data sets in multiple company-wide systems

  • Strong focus on seeking efficiencies with attention to detail

Qualifications and Training:

Mandatory 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience required

Desirable

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in Finance and analytics

  • Ideal background experience includes but is not limited to consulting, corporate FP+A, or accounting in the live event, media, or hospitality industries

Per local requirements and in the interest of transparency, the hourly rate shown below reflects the prevalent current hiring range for this position. Hiring pay rates are based on a number of factors, including location and may vary depending on job-related qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience. Hiring Rate Minimum:

$60,000 annually (minimum will not fall below the applicable state/local minimum salary thresholds)

Hiring Rate Maximum:

$80,000 annually
