Schedule: 40 hour rotation with every other weekends (8 hour Saturday schedule).

Our Interventional Radiology Nurses are responsible for the care of our patients having interventional procedures requiring sedation. They will assess, monitor, and provide care for the patient before, during, and after the procedure. They also will do the pre-procedure phone screening for our IN/IR patients.


 

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts who is responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care as set forth in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual. Duties include pre-procedure phone screening for IN/IR patients.

Responsible for care of patients having interventional procedures requiring procedural sedation.

Will assess, monitor and provide care for the patient before, during and after procedure.
Demonstrates initiative, knowledge and clinical skills in caring for the patient with complex needs.

Ability to effectively manage patients by assuming full responsibility for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of patient care and is directly responsible to a designated nurse manager, or supervisor.

Assure the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in an environment that exemplifies best practice.


 

Qualifications

  • BSN required

  • Massachusetts Registered Nurse Licensure required

  • BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers required

  • ACLS required

  • Excellent IV skills

  • 2 years of critical care experience required

  • Background in Interventional Nursing strongly preferred (Interventional Radiology, Interventional Cardiology, Endoscopy)

  • Procedural sedation experience preferred

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Show evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients

  • Ability to demonstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities

  • Ability to adhere to all I.C.A.R.E. standards

  • Membership in professional organizations is recommended and certification in a specialty area is encouraged.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Adheres to all C.A.R.E. standards.
- Staff RN, Psychiatry, Ambulatory/Float: Adheres to all I.C.A.R.E standards.
- The RN must show evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
- Must demonstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities.
- Must be able to function under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must demonstrate effective skills in applying hospital standards in area of service, team work, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management.
