KBR is seeking a midlevel Communications Systems Engineer to support the design, development, integration, test, and vulnerability assessment of military communications systems in laboratory, simulation, and operationally relevant environments. The role focuses on RF and non-RF communications systems, including waveforms, datalinks, protocol behavior, interfaces, and end-to-end system performance.

The engineer will work across hardware, software, RF, networking, and test boundaries to develop requirements, support lab design, develop and integrate waveforms and communications protocols, and evaluate system behavior using representative equipment, test data, and technical analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and document communications system architectures, lab configurations, interfaces, and test environments
  • Research, select, and integrate communications hardware, software, RF equipment, networks, datalink systems, and test infrastructure
  • Develop system requirements, interface descriptions, verification approaches, test plans, and supporting design documentation
  • Develop, integrate, and evaluate waveforms, communications protocols, message flows, and data exchange behavior
  • Assess communications systems and architectures for vulnerabilities, limitations, interoperability issues, and technical risk
  • Execute lab, HIL/SIL, modeling and simulation, field test, exercise, and interoperability activities for communications systems
  • Document test results, findings, and recommendations for technical reviews and customer deliverables

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Systems Engineering
  • 3-8 years of experience in systems engineering, integration, test, evaluation, vulnerability assessment, or development of communications or other complex technical systems
  • Experience developing or using requirements, interface descriptions, verification matrices, test plans, architecture diagrams, or system design documentation
  • Experience integrating or testing systems involving hardware, software, networks, RF equipment, simulators, lab infrastructure, or fielded equipment
  • Working understanding of communications behavior across physical, link, network, and logical layers, including waveforms, protocols, message flows, timing, interfaces, routing, or data exchange
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with military communications systems such as tactical radios, datalinks, SATCOM, IFF, Link 16, CDL, MANET, avionics communications, or related C5ISR systems
  • Experience with RF communications, SDR-based systems, waveform or protocol development, datalink systems, interoperability testing, vulnerability assessment, or protocol-level analysis
  • Experience designing, configuring, or sustaining communications labs using radios, SDRs, RF test equipment, network equipment, simulators, mission-system interfaces, or representative fielded equipment
  • Familiarity with RF fundamentals such as spectrum, modulation, antennas, link budgets, interference, signal paths, and RF test equipment
  • Experience supporting DoD programs, laboratory R&D, acquisition, operational test, or prototyping environments

Basic Compensation: $100,000 - $140,000 (For Ohio Only)
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
