Meet the Team
Silicon Labs Systems Team’s mission is to ensure our products have the right features and technologies to win in our target market segments. The team is responsible for generating technical requirements for our products by researching system requirements from the application level to the SoC feature level.
The Role
This role entails researching targeted applications (E.g., Smart Appliances, Doorbells, E-Metering) or technologies (E.g., Dual Core Architecture, SW Modeling) and generates requirements to drive our IoT hardware and software roadmaps. Requirements are created via strong comprehension of various standards, tearing down end-applications, engaging our customer’s engineering teams, and performing feasibility studies of new system-level solutions or optimizations. These requirements are documented in our requirements management tool and used to develop our product roadmap.
In addition to requirements generation and documentation, this role will identify and prototype high-value innovations, generate internal collateral, train internal audiences, and publish technical whitepapers.
What you’ll be doing
Collaborating with Product Marketing to guide our technical product roadmap
Collaboration with engineers at our driver customers
End-application teardown analysis
Technical research on standards and applications
Feasibility studies of potential system-level innovations
Ensuring our products have the right features and technologies to win
Using a requirements management tool to capture market and product requirements and track them through development
Helping to train internal audiences on new applications, features, and technologies
Providing the deepest level of technical support to customer-facing teams
Providing mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members
Develop and improve systems team processes
Minimum Qualifications
BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent with 7+ years of industry experience
A strong understanding of embedded microcontroller architectures and features
A good understanding of embedded application design: requirement analysis, HW design, firmware and application development, bench evaluation, and debugging
Basic knowledge of wireless radios and protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, ZigBee, Wi-Fi)
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Must be comfortable explaining technical concepts to a wide range of audiences, including senior engineering leaders.
Experience using lab equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.
Experience in use of modern project management tools (Confluence, Jira, Portfolio Manager, MS Project, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the semiconductor industry
Good understanding of hardware IP architecture, development and verification
Experience working with High-Speed Interfaces (USB, Ethernet, QSPI, or display buses)
Knowledge in mux configurations and planning on pin constrained packages
Knowledge in the IP Design process for analog or digital IP.
Basic knowledge of security and functional safety
Basic knowledge of HW accelerators, DSP algorithms and edge computing
Experience with one or more RTOS – Free RTOS, uc/OS, Zephyr preferred

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $124,600 - $231,400 USD. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location where work will be performed and applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
