The Vimeo Create engineering group, based at Vimeo’s Israeli R&D site, is looking for a senior backend engineer to join our editor team. We're working in a squad that includes backend and frontend engineers, product managers, designers, and analysts. Our mission is to unleash the full potential of video for businesses by enabling them to create and edit compelling videos effortlessly and at scale.

As a senior backend engineer at Vimeo Create, you’ll collaborate closely with our engineering teams and product managers to craft innovative solutions for complex challenges and maintain high-performance, scalable platforms. As a valued team member, you’ll participate in architectural designs, implementing new features, refining existing code, optimizing performance, and elevating our systems to meet stringent monitoring standards. The ideal candidate is an experienced Python developer with expert-level knowledge of backend development for high-traffic websites and applications, who thinks independently and has a great passion for the role.

Responsibilities:

• Be involved in all stages of the development life cycle, from architecture design reviews to production.
• Work autonomously and be comfortable executing features from start to finish as planned.
• Conduct code reviews, write unit and integration tests to improve code quality.
• Proactively seek opportunities to enhance system efficiency and functionality.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in backend development and API development.
• Proficiency in Python programming is essential.
• Extensive familiarity with web infrastructure and databases.
• Experience working with AWS is required.
• Hands-on experience with the Django framework - Advantage.
• Proficiency in PHP - Advantage.
