Summary

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for overseeing all activities of the assigned Planning Center. Responsible for monitoring, and supervising the assignments of equipment and drivers for the best utilization and optimization of assets.

Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Advocate and maintain a strong commitment to safety in the operating process.
  • Facilitate communication with Terminal Management.
  • Identify driver schedule needs for each refined market, daily/weekly and coordinate with Terminal personnel to ensure adequate resources are supplied to meet operational demands.
  • Identify Driver carding/training needed for loading racks and coordinate with Terminal personnel.
  • Optimize resources to provide maximum driver earnings, revenue and profitability.
  • Assist Regional Planning Manager with overseeing and managing dispatch operations.
  • Fill in for LC’s that are sick or on vacation.
  • Assist with training of all new Planning Center employees.
  • Conduct/Protor all required training with all LC’s to include any ongoing training/coaching mandated.
  • Coordinate and communicate load exceptions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for each Planning Center position to provide back-up assistance to each employee.
  • Mediate any operational disputes that involve utility of assets.
  • Confirm accuracy of customer pulls in each market daily to include, researching and responding to incorrect contract pull emails.
  • Identify mix loads and decide if load could have been single product, coach as needed, daily.
  • Verify and correct order movements daily.
  • Verify order notes as needed.
  • Complete open loads on card planner daily.
  • Verify COD (Call on Demand) order accuracy daily.
  • Ensure LC’s are aware of scheduled Tank Tests by market as needed.
  • Provide operational reports as requested by management.
  • Perform all other duties as specified by management.

Additional Job Description

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements

  • Dispatch experience desired.
  • Understanding of equipment utilization and allocation.
  • Management and/or supervisory experience desired.
  • Advanced administrative and organizational skills.
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.  An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to effectively perform the functions of this position may be considered.
  • Tanker industry experience.
  • Knowledge of DOT and applicable Federal Regulations.

Computer Equipment and Software Requirements

  • Must be able to effectively operate computer systems to complete essential job functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook applications.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has direct supervisory responsibility over all Planning Canter employees.
