Your Challenge
Responsible for attaining a comprehensive knowledge of the suppliers' capabilities and overall workload as well as developing a working relationship between the supplier and company that assures on time delivery of materials to meet production requirements.
Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing purchasing strategies for direct materials, components and indirect supplies, various facility services at an optimal price and delivery cycle to maintain the lowest adequate inventory levels while retaining the quality of the items required for timely, cost effective production. Responsibilities also include vendor selection and qualification in alignment with Safran processes and regulatory standards. Initiatives may include negotiating favorable terms such as price and lead times, volume discounts, LTAs and other agreements, development of improved purchasing processes in alignment with Safran standards, and interfacing with external as well as internal stakeholders in the business including Safran corporate resources that assist in the ongoing maturity of purchasing processes.
Drive to achieve measurable cost savings targets on commodities.
Familiar with requirements for purchasing in support of US DoD contracts, and maintains compliance to US federal acquisition regulations as applicable.
Reviews market, price, delivery conditions and trends to determine present and future material availability.
Provides guidance and support to department personnel accordingly.
Solves complex problems with a broad perspective to identify solutions.
Engage in key negotiations to ensure improvements in purchase price standards for direct spend items, and indirect spend item cost reductions.
Proactively works to maintain master schedule integrity by working to bring material in to meet the plan wherever possible, and elevates issues immediately in the event of plan failure for re-planning.
Analyze material requirement trends and review pricing, terms and conditions, availability of materials, products, and services to obtain the best competitive pricing. Create and issue purchase orders to suppliers as may be needed.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
5 years of purchasing experience in an engineered products manufacturing environment.
Engineering and procurement skills required; to understand and communicate technical requirements to suppliers.
Strong knowledge in ERP / MRP software which drives purchasing, product structures and order fulfillment.
Strong in data analytics.
Expert communications and negotiations skills.
Ability to think on your feet and make quality decisions.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or have appropriate right to work in the US.
