Northrop Grumman is seeking an Industrial Engineer (IE) for our Northridge, CA. location. This position requires the selected candidate to work on-site in Northridge; remote work is not available for this position.
AME Roles and Responsibilities
Role:
The role of the Industrial Engineer (IE) is to lead Northrop Grumman to success by utilizing capacity modeling software, Digital Transformation and common IE tactics. The IE will use advanced knowledge of industrial/manufacturing engineering fundamentals to help Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. The IE shall influence the development of NGDS’s next generation of Defense products by supporting new products from concept development through the start of production for manufacturing cost, yield, and schedule execution. This individual will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, IPT Lead, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations to ensure producibility and capacity meets the program targets, including Yield and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
Lead and/or supports key operational excellence plans for the site.
Develops and maintains capacity model using FlexSim for a mixed-model production environment with frequent product introductions (equipment and labor).
Develops and maintains plant layout to support growth and equipment changes.
Conducts work measurement studies to establish operational and production standards.
Develops and implements operations KPI reporting metrics.
Provides input for identification and planning of department goals and budget, development, standardization, and implementation of initiatives intended to improve the quality, cost and delivery performance.
Supports productivity, quality, process efficiency, space utilization, standardization and lead time improvement efforts.
Digital Transformation support
Provides production layout, operations, and planning support for new product introduction
Responsible for supporting production activity and making sure business objectives are met.
Duties include controlling production plans, identifying risks, reporting to management, preventing shortages and excesses, handling shipments, and maintaining quality standards.
Develop schedules that clearly show the flow of work through various departments or workstations.
Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule.
Work with Management to plan and manage production tasks.
Review production plans to identify and report potential risks to Management.
Develop inventory control techniques to avoid shortages and excesses.
Assist in processing customer orders and shipments according to the established schedule.
Assist Management in controlling production costs while maintaining the quality standards.
Review job orders and accordingly establish priorities and schedules.
Monitor execution of job orders and adjust schedules for timely delivery.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge on company objectives, production strategies and support activities.
Plan and monitor material movement in production cycles to ensure continuous operations.
Plan equipment, material and manpower needs for job order.
Coordinate with Management in resolving production planning and control issues.
Work with Management to prepare job order documents and give timely approvals.
Work with cross-functional teams to complete job orders on-time and within customer specifications.
Communicate production updates to Managers and customers on regular basis.
Education and Qualifications:
Level III
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or Business Management with a technical focus + 5 years of relatable experience.
LEAN Six Sigma certification and LEAN Six Sigma implementation experience preferred.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including macro development and data mining/manipulation tools for enhanced data value.
PC expertise (Office, Capacity Simulation, CostPoint, SAP, Autocad, other databases)
Strong analytical and data management skills
Must be able to multitask and establish priorities
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required
Must be able to obtain SECRET clearance
Level IV
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or Business Management with a technical focus + 8 years of relatable experience.
LEAN Six Sigma certification and LEAN Six Sigma implementation experience preferred.
