General Notes

Work schedule will be determined by discussion with supervisor.

Purpose

The mission of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs is to enhance, support, and promote postdoctoral training at the university through coordinated programming and services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with research, development, and evaluation of a leadership development program for postdoctoral scholars

  • Collaborate in the development and presentation of resources around leadership development and assist with other related research, evaluation, and assessment activities on an as-needed basis

  • Collaborate with Office of Postdoctoral Affairs to create an application for the program, review and select participants, and schedule and deliver the program

  • Research and develop Canvas course content for asynchronous delivery of web resources and materials to support the leadership development program

  • Use appropriate data collection processes to maintain and update program files and notes

  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data using appropriate strategies and tools

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral student (PhD, EdD) – 2nd year or higher 

  • Detail-oriented and methodical in the completion of tasks

  • Diligent, reliable, and able to operate under strict deadlines

  • Independently motivated

  • Able to collaborate effectively with others

  • An effective communicator with strong written and oral communication skills

  • Willing and eager to learn

  • Registered for 3 hours during any summer session, and 9 hours during the long semesters

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of leadership development and management best practices

  • Current or previous research related to leadership and management practices

  • Experience developing modules in Canvas

  • Strong quantitative/qualitative analysis background; experience conducting literature reviews

  • Demonstrable professional, clear, and concise communication skills

  • A history of task ownership and accountability

Salary Range

The position offers a salary of $2,166 per month with TRB and benefits. Reappointment for additional semesters will be based on performance and requirements of the office. Must be available for some in-person work (i.e., reside in the Austin area).

Work Shift

This is a 20-hour per week position. The schedule is flexible, Monday-Friday between 8am-5pm. In-person attendance may be required at Office of Postdoctoral Affairs events/workshops/symposia, unless otherwise excused.
