We’re hiring a Director, Equipment and Automation for our Mine Services team in Oilsands! We are looking for an experienced professional to lead the professionals in this technical team as well as provide exceptional support and guidance to our colleagues at the four operating Mines.

Minimum Requirements:
•    Minimum of 15 years experience in Mine Maintenance or Mine Reliability  
•    A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mine Engineering or related discipline
•    15 years of leadership with increasing scope and responsibility 
•    Strong experience with Mobile Mine Equipment and Open Pit operations
•    Proven experience with coaching and mentoring team members
•    Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to think strategically
•    Experience in working with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMS) on both commercial and technical topics
•    Decision-making with a safety, people focused, and continuous improvement mindset


Responsibilities:
•    Provide technical support and leadership for Mine specific Operational Excellence Management system processes (Manage Threats to Availability)

•    Identify mine equipment opportunities to reduce safety exposures or costs to improve Suncor’s competitiveness, partnering with the Assets to prioritize and deliver programs of work 
•    Influence and drive for asset strategy standardization on regional common fleet and influence standardization on shovel and mobile execution practices regionally
•    Accountable for deployment of approved existing systems (eg. CAS, DSS), as well as sustainment and optimization of assets and associated solutions
•    Collaborate with OEMs to optimize existing equipment and technologies and assess future state opportunities
•    Participate in regular Strategic Supplier Management meetings with OEMS 
•    Build and support an engaged team and develop our talent 


Location and other Key Details:
•    Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with travel required to key supplier meeting locations
•    Live and work in Fort McMurray is the preferred location but Calgary with frequent travel to the region will be considered
