What does a Director of Procurement really do? Think of yourself as one of the leaders of your department so not just anyone is qualified for this role! Imagine yourself going to work with one thing on your mind: you will  be responsible for all the purchases of goods and services for the company located in South East Asia Countries such as Philippines, Malaysia, Japan & Taiwan ensuring quality goods are purchased from the right source at the best price and shortest delivery lead time possible in order to support the company’s goals and operational requirements.

As you look at your tasks for the day, you know that as a Director of Procurement  you are:

  • Responsible for the procurement processes such as vendor accreditation and due diligence, sourcing and canvassing, competitive biddings (RFQ/RFP), purchase requisition and approval, purchase order preparation and contract negotiations. 

  • You will also take the lead in implementing and improving the processes related to the company’s procurement tool and provide leadership in ensuring that the team is transparent and fair in all business dealings and to support the Senior Director and VP Procurement in local and global procurement-related requirements. 

As the SEA Director of Procurement, Key duties are:

  • Vendor Management (Develop qualified and professional vendors)

  • You will be responsible for sourcing vendors, accreditation and due diligence, periodic review and evaluation, and maintaining good relationships. 

  • Purchasing and Negotiation (Finalize cost-effective prices), meaning you will mostly connect with vendors and do canvassing, competitive Bidding request for quotations (RFQ) & request for proposal (RFP), analysis and evaluation, price negotiations & recommendation to management for purchase. 

  • Contract Negotiations (Negotiate and sign contracts), clearly doing contract review, commercial negotiations & guidance to lines of business for Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s). 

  • Order Management (All purchases covered by purchase orders), you will work closely with purchasing of requisitions and approvals & order creation, also will closely work with the vendors and delivery and receipt of goods.

As a Director of Procurement position, you will:

  • Also spearhead the Procurement requirements for major projects (capex/site build) in coordination with Facilities, Project Management, IT and other departments concerned; 

  • Will continuously provide recommendations for procedural improvements not only within the department but also with other departments closely working with, mentor and provide guidance to all team members to ensure processes and company guidelines are adhered to and maintain the ethical standards of purchasing, develop and build team members through internal or external trainings to be abreast of current trends in procurement and provide support and guidance to other global locations for the procurement requirements.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in finance, business or engineering or MBA, you have previous experience in strategic procurement and leading the procurement process and a previous senior role on procurement.

  • We need someone who can articulate themselves well, so we need someone with excellent communication skills

  • Willingness to travel / with driving skills, to extend work hours as needed,  to take on additional tasks as needed, ability to communicate and inspire others  and ability to show and adapt to TaskUs Culture.

  • At least 15 years of experience in procurement with at least 7 years in a managerial or directorial capacity
