What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Work hand-in-hand with the Scout team to identify the right suppliers to build and supply parts & services, including participating in pre-souring audits to confirm acceptability of new suppliers.
  • Establish sourcing strategy for assigned commodities and product groups, lead the sourcing process up to and including contract award
  • Act as program manager during the pre-production phase, ensuring that all industrialization at suppliers achieve the project requirements in terms of timing, cost, and quality.
  • Evaluate and apply technical changes to parts / services, ensuring that cost, quality and delivery objectives are met.
  • Lead cross-functional evaluation of suppliers’ preparedness for mass-production, together with Scout Quality, Engineering, and Logistics teams.
  • This role will involve vendor management, contract negotiation & nomination, and collaboration with internal teams to support the overall supply chain strategy.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2-5 years in purchasing environment with experience developing and executing procurement category strategies related to international logistics and customs regulations.
  • 2-5 years experience in leading the procurement process, negotiations and supplier nominations
  • 2-5 years of project management experience and knowledge of procurement systems (SAP, Ivalua, etc.)
  • Proficient in data analytics & reporting to evaluate costs and vendor performance
  • Strong reputation of developing, nurturing, and maintaining excellent stakeholder and partner supplier relationships
  • Thorough knowledge of logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, packaging, freight forwarding (sea, rail, air), and finished vehicle logistics.
  • MS Office Suite Experience (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require relocation and/or attendance onsite in Columbia, Sout Carolina office (4 days/wk) and at in-person meetings and events occasionally on other domestic and international locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-5+ years of experience in Indirect Procurement within Logistics space; specifically procuring any/all of the following: FTL/LTL Road, Shuttle/Drayage Services, Rail Services, Deep/Short Sea, Air, Customs, Warehouse Services, Material Handling Equipment, and Returnable/Expendable Packaging.
  • 2-5+ years of experience in Indirect Procurement within Logistics space procuring finished vehicle logistics (FVL) services, such as: FVL Trucking, FVL Rail, FVL Port Processing, FVL RORO Short & Deep Sea, FVL Port Quality Services
  • 2-5+ years of experience in Automotive Industry particularly in launch, startup, or new model programs
  • Certification in Purchasing (CPSM, CPP, etc.) or related Supply Chain Management certifications

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $100,000-$120,000

Internal leveling code: IC9
