The Mechanic installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains plant equipment in order to minimize equipment downtime. In addition, they provide assistance to the maintenance team. This position requires a working knowledge of mechanical systems including gear boxes, couplings, bearings, shop equipment, welding, compressors, chillers, blowers, convey systems and piping configuration. This position will transition to a 3/2 Schedule from 6am to 6pm and 6pm to 6am on a 3/2 schedule. 



Additional $2.50/hr premium for NIGHT Shift only between the hours of 6pm-6am. Any hours worked outside of 6pm-6am will not receive the premium.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance per planned schedules. Clean and lubricate machinery.  
  • Inspect equipment operating conditions. Identify root causes of equipment breakdowns. 
  • Work outside in various weather conditions performing property maintenance. 
  • Use the company plow truck, skid steer, and snowblower. 
  • Complete assigned work orders.
  • Document labor and parts usage in computerized system. 
  • Perform repairs efficiently and in a professional manner.
  • Troubleshoot and repair production mechanical systems. 
  • Provide assistance & support to others as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance or production operation experience relative to Printpack.

  • Ability to use precision tools or instruments, and hand-held power machinery.

  • Ability to work with equipment and machinery by regularly repairing machinery or equipment, regular checking of machinery for maintenance, and adjusting/dismantling machinery.

  • Ability to remove and repair parts from machinery, perform preventative maintenance, push/move loads, repetitive movements and assembling, climbing/working at high heights, lifting/carrying loads by hand, using rigging, forklifts and aerial lifts. 

  • Ability to follow instructions by printed diagrams, written instructions, verbal instructions, and instructions on how to operate machinery.

  • Work professionally in a team atmosphere to solve problems and be part of Continuous Improvement Initiatives (PPS). 

  • Ability to use computers, tablets, and various electronic devices to perform job duties including using but not limited to various Microsoft Office programs, and OEM electronic device configuration programs. 

  • Strong knowledge of our CMMS (JDE-PRISM) software to complete assigned work orders, document labor and parts usage. 

  • Strong background of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems including gear boxes, couplings, bearings, rollers, shop equipment, welding and fabricating equipment, pumps, compressors, chillers, blowers, piping, and conveyor systems. 

  • Ability to methodically troubleshoot complex problems to perform repairs in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. 

  • Ability to understand basic electrical theory, electrical system components and how they are used on plant equipment. 

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.
