Our 2.2 million associates truly make the difference. The People Analytics team empowers our associates around the world to do more for our customers by improving people decisions through science, insight, and automation. We influence Walmart’s people policies; test & evaluate program and intervention effectiveness; create scaled AI/ML people solutions; and deliver insights that improve our associates’ experience.  

The Director, People Analytics is responsible for developing and overseeing the Global People Insights teams’ self-service product strategy which aims to empower our internal customers to make data-driven decisions leveraging a centralized suite of scaled solutions. The Director should be a SME in all things BI technology with experience in building and overseeing the implementation of end-to-end BI solutions (Power BI preferred), as well as working knowledge of other technologies, like GenAI, that could also enable us to deliver on our mission. This leader should have a passion for growing and developing technical associates. The Director, People Analytics will partner with internal Product Managers and the Director of Data Stewardship to ensure all solutions align to customer requirements and that we’re developing truly scaled data models on a foundation of strong data quality/governance processes and procedures. 

You’ll sweep us off our feet if 

  • You have experience developing and overseeing large-scale BI solution strategies with a passion for delivering broad value across very large customer populations.  

  • 7-10 years experience working in BI Reporting technologies such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.. 

  • You have 4-6 years supervisory experience with a passion for growing and developing teams of associates spread across several time zones. 

  • You are adept in stakeholder management to include relationship management, prioritization, and scoping of new reporting solution requests. 

  • You have an eye for brilliant UI-UX design, and you absolutely love data visualization and storytelling leveraging large, complex datasets. 

  • You have experience in People Analytics and thrive on your products being used to improve overall employee/associate experience. 

You’ll make an impact by  

  • Data Source Identification: Supporting the understanding of the priority order of requirements and service level agreements. Helping identify the most suitable source for data that is fit for purpose. Performing initial data quality checks on extracted data. 

  • Data Strategy: Understanding, articulating, and applying principles of the defined strategy to routine business problems that involve a single function. 

  • Understanding Business Context: Requires knowledge of Industry and environmental factors; Common business vernacular; Business practices across two or more domains such as product, finance, marketing, sales, technology, business systems, and human resources and in-depth knowledge of related practices; Directly relevant business metrics and business areas.  

  • Solution Development: Providing and supporting the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.  

  • Tech Problem Formulation: Requires knowledge of Analytics/big data analytics / automation techniques and methods; Business understanding; Precedence and use cases; Business requirements and insights. To translate/ co-own business problems within one's discipline to data related or mathematical solutions. Identify appropriate methods/tools to be leveraged to provide a solution for the problem. Share use cases and gives examples to demonstrate how the method would solve the business problem. 

  • Data Visualization: Understanding customer requirements to design appropriate data representation for multiple data sets. Working with User Experience designers and User Interface engineers as required to build front end applications. Presenting to and influencing the team and business audience using the appropriate frameworks and conveying clear messages through business and stakeholder understanding. Customizing communication style based on stakeholder under guidance and leverages rational arguments. Guiding and mentoring junior associates on story types, structures, and techniques based on context. 

  • Modeling compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 3: 7 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field. 2 years' supervisory experience.
