Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced litigation and employment attorney to join our legal team as Manager & Legal Counsel, Litigation and Employment. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of litigation and claims matters, with a primary focus on employment and consumer litigation, while partnering closely with internal stakeholders to provide practical, strategic legal advice.
This position plays a key role in helping the Company manage legal risk, resolve disputes efficiently, and support business initiatives across the organization. The successful candidate will be a collaborative problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, business-oriented environment.
Major Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Manage an active docket of litigation matters, including employment claims, general liability cases, consumer litigation, arbitrations, administrative charges, and pre-litigation demands
Partner with and manage outside counsel to drive effective case strategy, control costs, and ensure high-quality legal representation
Provide strategic and timely advice and counsel to HR and business leaders on a wide range of employment and operational matters
Handle single-plaintiff administrative charges and employment litigation matters through all phases, including case evaluation, discovery, depositions, mediation, and resolution
Support the Company in employment-related risk management, including workplace investigations, discipline, terminations, accommodations, and leave issues
Assist with complex litigation and enterprise compliance initiatives as needed
Oversee eDiscovery, legal holds, document preservation, and subpoena responses
Prepare periodic litigation reports, risk assessments, and budgeting updates for internal stakeholders
Support internal training, compliance initiatives, and policy/guideline development related to employment law and litigation risk
Travel as needed to participate in hearings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations
Experience
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
3+ years of employment and litigation experience
Demonstrated experience handling employment litigation and administrative charges
Experience managing outside counsel and coordinating litigation strategy
Strong legal writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively with business leaders and non-legal stakeholders
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
Additional Qualifications
Licensed attorney in good standing in at least one state
Admission to one or more federal courts preferred
Ability to obtain Ohio Corporate Counsel licensure if not currently licensed in Ohio
Experience with insurance matters, compliance initiatives, or other general corporate legal work is a plus
