About the Opportunity

The Senior Sales Representative, Retail Sales position requires the passion and commitment to excel while consistently providing the highest levels of teamwork, customer service, account management, and fresh berry sales performance to the Driscoll’s Retail Sales Channel. The Senior Sales Representative position will be responsible for maintaining customer demand accuracy and sales execution in alignment with our mid and short range customer sales targets and plans for category growth. This will be accomplished through effective, cross functional engagement with our Customer Development, Demand Management, Marketing, Supply Chain Planning, and Sales Leadership teams. Through their assigned customer account base, the Senior Sales Representative will be responsible for collaboratively executing our short range, daily sales activities as is necessary to maintain an orderly sales and distribution process in alignment with short range supply and demand forecast fluctuations. The Senior Sales Representative position will demonstrate a strong passion for operational excellence through continuous process improvement, continuous dedication to team skill development across a broad spectrum of selling skills, as well as collaborative teamwork and effective decision making. The Senior Sales Representative position will help create and maintain a high performing, collaborative selling environment based in teamwork and in alignment with Driscoll’s Mission, Vision and Values.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manages and is accountable for the execution of all mid and short range selling strategies with assigned account base to maintain orderly supply and demand balance in alignment with Driscoll’s retail customer strategies and Mission to delight consumers though alignment with our Customers and our Berry Growers. 
  • Possesses a proven track record of excellent sales negotiation skills and an understanding of the cycles and factors of perishable commodities, as well as account/relationship management skills and actively shares these with team mates in order to continually raise team performance.
  • Performs strategic mid-term and short-term planning as well as the ability to multitask with a sense of urgency in a quick cycle time & fast-paced environment
  • Collaborates in accomplishing sales plan targets so that sales prices and returns to our grower partners achieve a measurable premium that outperforms our competition.
  • Fosters and sustains a sales culture of service & customer value creation.
  • Coordinates and maintains programs and processes for industry leading Customer Service in order to increase Customer satisfaction as measured by our annual Customer Trade Survey.
  • Implements flexible, adaptive and innovative continuous improvement processes for effectiveness, efficiencies & accuracy across all mid and short range sales activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and collaboration, and the ability to maintain strong working relationships as both an individual contributor, coach, mentor and team member
  • Follow company policies and practices while representing Driscoll’s in an ethical and business-like manner in all interactions with employees, government agencies, growers, customers, etc.
  • Manages the trade Accounts Receivable and Adjustment processes.  This is measured by our average days to pay by account and ageing reports.
  • Ensures the security of Driscoll’s proprietary and confidential information and material. Follow Company policies and practices while representing Driscoll in an ethical and business-like manner in all interactions with employees, government agencies, growers, customers, etc.
  • Promotes safety, development, and training of the Retail Sales team members on a continuous basis
  • Performs other duties as instructed by the Director of Retail Sales & Vice President of Sales

   

Candidate Profile

  • Four-year college degree (BA or BS) or demonstrated academic competencies through applied work experience and 5 to 10 years of progressive, successful berry sales experience.
  • Effective in managing complex sales program execution through superior organization, communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong retail sales acumen and ability to align long, mid, and short range sales planning strategies with short range business objectives.
  • Strong leadership competency including the ability to effectively collaborate with and motivate high performing sales teams.
  • Strong customer service acumen as well as effective business knowledge in all channels of produce distribution. 
  • Ability to travel for business up to 25% of work time visiting customers and in-market tours.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced level of computer skills including use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Valid CA Driver’s License and eligibility for company vehicle insurance required

Compensation & Benefits

The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors.

Salary Range estimated for the Sr Sales Representative role: $87,430 to 113,660 yearly
