Job Description
The Director of Nursing Services - Almost Home Kids, directs the clinical programs and supervises interdisciplinary clinical team at Almost Home Kid’s Naperville and Chicago locations. Coordinates, integrates, and develops programs and communication within entire organization. Assists team corporate integrations and new AHK site development. Represents Almost Home Kids in operations with partner hospitals. Facilitates, promotes, and models leadership style consistent with Almost Home Kids. Understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care the needs of children who are medically complex in regard to their growth and development process.
Job Duties:
Provides administrative and clinical leadership with 24-hour accountability to all Almost Home Kids sites. Supervises clinical staff.
Drives the strategic and operational planning process, possesses a vision true to the mission for Almost Home Kids, and inspires excellence in all its components.
Achieves the strategic outcomes for all clinical areas of responsibility.
Oversees systems to ensure standardization of education, staffing, quality initiatives, protocols, information systems, and accountable for outcomes.
Identifies opportunities for shared governance and develops interdependent teams and plans for Almost Home Kids.
Oversees the fiscal management within area of responsibility: accountable for not exceeding clinical operating and supply budgets.
Reconciles payroll and supplies monthly reports to Sr. Director of Business Operations.
Accountable for adequate clinical staffing at AHK in response to census plans and ability to coordinate with the Patient Access Committee (PAC).
Responsible for the selection and development of clinical leadership staff and creates and fosters a collaborative work environment.
Meets regularly with direct reports to develop career growth plans and opportunities for promotions.
Responsible for collaborative partnership between providers, case management and nursing staff.
Directs the nursing practice standards throughout all Almost Home Kids facilities and reports to the President and Executive Director of Almost Home Kids for issues related to nursing practice.
The authority to hire, separate, promote, demote, write, and administer performance evaluations.
Responsible for outcomes of clinical quality metrics for nursing and collaborate with Director of Project Management for improvement plans.
Approve use of clinical resources for sponsored programs (SIM Lab, Medical Education, APRN Scholars Program).
Responsible for maintaining the documentation and record keeping system in compliance with organizational and external agency requirements to include but not limited to IDPH, DSCC, and Medicaid and facilitates annual audits.
Maintain and create an active plan to recruit and retain nursing staff.
Works in tandem with the Director of Operations on life safety compliance.
Responsible for collaborating with Providers and informing all clinical personnel about the on-call schedule
Collaborate with co-leaders on outreach and business development initiatives.
Required to expend at least two full shifts bi-annually shadowing an experienced bedside nurse in an effort to apply knowledge gained to clinical practice in support of the nursing team PRN.
Other job functions as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
Master’s degree with a concentration in nursing administration, health care administration, business or other health care profession required.
Nursing license Illinois required.
Knowledge of complex pediatric services acquired through clinical experience.
Experienced in working in partnership with healthcare professionals in leadership roles.
Strong leadership and communication skills required.
