Job Description

Peterson Cat has a need for a Corporate Data & Analytics Manager at our San Leandro, CA location.

SUMMARY

The Corporate Data & Analytics Manager is responsible for establishing and leading a data department that performs analytics and ensures consistency in data definitions, governance, and reporting across the Peterson enterprise. This role oversees the design and maintenance of scalable data platforms, defines and executes the company’s data strategy, and fosters collaboration with cross-functional teams to align data-related initiatives with business goals. Additional responsibilities include team leadership, enforcing data governance and compliance, driving innovation in analytics and artificial intelligence (AI), and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess impact.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develop, lead, and mentor a high-performing data team while fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

  • Oversee the design, build, and maintenance of data analytics platforms and architecture that are reliable, efficient, and scalable.

  • Oversee the delivery of data solutions that drive business value and enhance customer experience.

  • Develop, manage, and enforce data governance policies to ensure data quality, privacy, and security and ensure adherence to data-related regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with cross-functional teams including Information Technology (IT), Finance, and Business Operation teams to align data initiatives with organizational goals.

  • Define and execute Peterson’s data strategy roadmap to support business objectives.

  • Drive key data projects from conception to implementation, ensuring alignment with company goals.

  • Stay current with the latest advancements in data analytics, machine learning, and AI technologies.

  • Encourage team members to explore and adopt new tools and methodologies that can enhance Peterson’s data capabilities.

  • Develop and monitor KPIs to measure the success and impact of data initiatives; provide regular updates to senior leadership on progress, challenges, and opportunities.

  • Maintain regular, punctual, and predictable attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Travel up to 5% of the time to attend conferences, attend meetings, and perform other essential job functions.

  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.  

  • Display excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers/ coworkers, including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure. 

  • Respectfully take direction from supervisor/manager.  

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree from a fully accredited college in Data Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, or other closely related field; and a minimum of five (5) years of directly related experience in data analytics, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • 3+ years of leadership experience that includes directing, coordinating, reviewing, and monitoring the work of others required.

  • Experience with Power BI and related software required

  • Experience managing data teams and developing and administering data governance policies required.

  • Agile methodology experience preferred.

  • Background in heavy equipment, power generation, and/or trucking industries preferred.

  • Knowledge of California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including maintaining compliance required.

  • Exceptional skills in team building, conflict management, and task prioritization.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) certification or similar is highly preferred.

The pay range for this position is: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 (Starting wage will depend on experience and education. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary.)
