Join our team! The FindLaw technology group as a Senior Software Engineer, where you will contribute to the design and delivery of critical public-facing and internal applications. FindLaw is the leading provider of business marketing solutions for law firms and has the largest online destination for people with legal needs (findlaw.com).  We provide access to justice for consumers who want to find an attorney, complete a DIY form, or collect information to better understand a legal issue.  Our solutions help law firms grow their practice through strategic digital marketing approaches that drive results.  About the Role  

In this opportunity as a Senior Software Engineer at FindLaw, you will:

  • Collaborate with others efficiently and effectively to accomplish tasks on the desired timeline. 
  • Learn and apply new business and technical concepts quickly. 
  • Provide technical leadership to the team, ensuring design and architecture are aligned with the FindLaw strategy, standards, and best practices. 
  • Participate in all aspects of the agile process from story creation through release. 
  • Design, develop, test, and deliver application features that delight customers. 
  • Contribute non-functional requirements to projects to achieve long term application health and stability. 
  • Understand and apply current secure development practices. 
  • Maintain an understanding of industry trends and use this knowledge to bring new innovative ideas to the group. 
  • Support Production applications as needed to prevent service interruptions and maintain a high level of quality for our customers. 
  • Communicate effectively in written and verbal form with colleagues and vendor representatives. 
  • Mentor junior engineers to sustain a high level of development standards. 
  • Effectively manage your priorities and time. 
  • Present technical concepts and proposals with business and technical audiences in a way that resonates with them. 
  • Tackle the largest technical challenges facing the team. 
     

About You 

You’re a fit for the role if your background includes:

  • 3+ years relevant software development experience focused on online applications.
  • Design and development experience working with high-traffic, public-facing online properties.
  • Experience implementing and supporting SEO and page speed strategies.
  • Experience with user accessibility and screen reading technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to craft semantic HTML and CSS to meet responsive design and cross-browser requirements.
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks and related development and deployment tools (React, Node, etc.).
  • Web application development experience with technologies such as HTML5, CSS/SCSS, modern JavaScript.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills, and familiarity with common debugging tools (Chrome Dev Tools, etc.).
  • Experience with both back-end and front-end performance analysis including familiarity with related tools such as Google Search Console, Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse, Adobe Analytics.
  • Familiarity with A/B testing and related tools (e.g., Adobe Target)
  • Familiarity with AWS technologies (e.g. S3, EC2, SQS, Lambda, SES) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cross-browser functional testing as well as an awareness of common web development pitfalls and solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective cross-functional relationships.
